    companies who charge per cpu are downright STEALING from their customers. yes, real dollars that cannot be replicated due to the secret service busting their counterfeiting asses.

    that line of reasoning is also why a lot of bad shit happens in the world.

    sometimes it's best not to look for "alternatives" but to fix the shit that's going on.

    it happens in all walks of life and in all situations.

    you overlook the fact that they sell you ink marked up to give them about 15,000% profit (and i'm being extremely conservative). if you think that's ok, then argue that you need to stop printing so many pictures and look for alternatives like using LCD picture frames.. after all, electricity and liquid crystal displays are a lot cheaper and last longer...

    me? i'll argue that they need to have a new one ripped. one for each penny they overcharged on ink, since they began selling ink.

    the problem nowadays is no one gives a fucking damn anymore. if you run away, it won't get better it will only get worse.

    the inks fade?

    i thought that was one of the propoganda bullet points as to why ink is more expensive than top of the line dom perignon.

    high quality ink = 21st century snake oil.

    ink is so cheap, they couldn't give it all away.

    1000 gallons for a dime.

    and they sell you a 50 dollar cartridge with 50ml that only lasts 100 pages or so if you're lucky.

    if you continue to buy extortion priced ink, then you're fueling the corrupt a**holes who are ripping off the public.

    never let them sell you the bullshit lies about their ink being "special". it's in no way shape or form anything of the kind... but it is special in one way... it helps those greedy "businessmen" fleece the gullible public.

    ink is almost priced as much as gold. to say that it's obscene and outrageous doesn't even come close.

    anything that helps people own their consoles, is a step in the right direction.

    if you pay for a 360/ps3/revolution, you bought the chips and bought the rights to fully access your property.

    preventing people from having full access to their property is a criminal offense in my book.

    i'd make ms/sony/nintendo start selling uncrippled products or i'd revoke their business licenses.

    it has never been about "piracy" but control. but you see there's a small problem... you SOLD those devices to customers so you have no claim and no right to prevent people from using them in any way. and i would further add that it better be able to execute any code out of the box or i'd sue their asses.

    this is unacceptable.

    even more so when slashdotters don't even care that they're being sold deliberately crippled products. aren't geeks supposed to be smarter than the average mutton? i guess we have our answer.

    actually name something about bluray that is technically superior to hd-dvd other than the capacity?

    they both use the same laser frequency, they're both using blue lasers as well. they also use the same codecs (avc, vc-1,mpeg4)

    there to my knowledge isn't anything more to warrant an "etc" in your post.

    unless i'm mistaken...

    well it theoretically has less storage space.

    that's about all it has less than bluray.

    both formats are anti-"consumer" and not worth buying into in the long run.

    any format where the user/customer/owner doesn't have full access isn't worth the atoms it's made out of.

    you won't want to use mpeg4 to transcode those HD movies.

    mpeg4 is significantly worse in quality and storage size compared to ACV (mpeg4 part 10 or h264). it's even worse than vc-1 (wmv9 hd) but not by much.

    maybe a Free (as in libre) codec will come along to compete with the aforementioned technologies.

    you DO realize that sony is a member of the RIAA and the MPAA?

    i honestly cannot determine which is the lesser/greater evil, sony or ms.

    both engage in the same unethical business behavior. both are monopolistic (one convicted hence illegal), both are DRM proponents to the extreme.

    sony is the ms of the consumer electronics world. intel is the ms of the computer hardware world. ibm , as fortune would have it, isn't nearly as evil as they were in the 20th century.

    the 21st century = DRM century.
