-Finally acknowledged that most likely nothing useful (to mankind) will come of this discovery.
Well... if it fulfills some predictions then it possibly validates some theories. If nothing else, maybe the scientists who were collectively looking for this missing mass can now go on to something useful:)
Airbus is run by software. Boeing by pilots. I don't trust either, but I trust the software less
I bet there is some software in Boeing aircraft, and I bet there are pilots in Airbus aircraft too. It will be interesting to see what the final report says that software and/or pilots could have done, if anything, to avoid this crash, even with malfunctioning speed indicators.
If Ryan Gibbs wants to prosecute Twitter users for uttering his name in reference to this sex scandal, he'll have to get a US court to order Twitter to hand over the names. That's what Twitter is saying, and "good luck with that" is what I am saying.
I suspect "good luck with that" is what Twitter are mumbling under their breath too.
So... the technology has existed for 80 years and yet she and her team are the ones who are finding the pyramids? I think they deserve just a little kudos... i'm betting that they had to do a bit of work to make the technology be able to find the pyramids they found.
Also buy foods which are unlikely to be affected by the outbreak, e.g. imported meat & fish & vegetables.
I think that's the whole point... slapping an "Imported Goods" sticker on something doesn't make it imported, but makes it hard to tell the difference. Do you really trust your supply chain all the way to the end?
Geiger counters are useless for someone without at least a basic education in nuclear physics.
I wouldn't go that far. If you have two cans of beans in front of you and pointing the geiger counter at one gives you the same reading as background and pointing it at the other makes the thing go crazy then I think it's pretty clear which is the safer[1] one to eat.
Likewise, with a geiger counter it should be easy to tell the difference between a lettuce still full of radioactive fallout and one that's at least been rinsed off:)
[1] that's 'safer', which doesn't necessarily imply safe...
This is exactly the sort of anti-volcanic rhetoric I'd expect from the unwashed masses. This volcano was built using plans from three generations ago. Todays volcano's are far safer and far less likely to erupt in such an unpredictable fashion. Your are glossing over the fact that this volcano has just endured a rapture and is only blowing a small quantity of ash. The design specifically stated that the volcano would require some additional re-enforcements before the rapture came but these were never done owing to budget constraints, so it's hardly fair to judge all volcano's on the poor maintenance of this one case.
I was wondering about that too... I'm not completely sure if the judgement day is just the chosen people ascending to heaven (in which case the servers will be just fine for a while), or if it's general fire and brimstone on earth. Curiously the bible doesn't mention what happens to computer hardware.
The TLD for Kiribati is.ki, so google for site:.ki should find a few sites you can check. All the ones I checked seem to be up but they aren't necessarily hosted there.
That's more elaborate than I've had to do. I've been lucky none of the stuff has needed special patching.
Yeah. I was surprised and a little disappointed to find it didn't work straight away.
Did you release the patches?
I worked with the guys on the forum to work out where the problem was and they posted a more general version of my patch so I assume they are in the latest release already.
I've used Dosbox to emulate all of my companies legacy dos stuff we have to use.
I did that with some software to upload to a CNC controller for a sharpening machine. It wouldn't run on newer hardware but I got it running under dosbox... eventually. It turns out that it was using FCB's which were kind of obsolete when DOS2.0 came out and their support wasn't quite complete under DOSBox so some patching was required.
But at least now they can use the software on anything with a serial port, as opposed to hardware you just can't get anymore.
I think this will backfire against the US... it will actually make him appear super-human. He had porn _without_ internet access... I mean how does that happen???
I'm not sure what it's like in the US these days, and it probably varies widely from state to state, but where I live it seems like schools are pretty powerless to discipline students beyond issuing a timeout, detention, suspension, or expulsion. In the past a few sadistic teachers went overboard in handing out physical punishments so these days nobody is allowed to touch the kids.
Also, handing out misogynist hate material to kids at school might fall under the schools jurisdiction, but anything someone does on facebook certainly does not. If one of my kids had been doing things like that on facebook then i'd expect the school to contact me (as a courtesy) or involve the police - the school should have no authority over what my child does outside school hours (with a grey area if they happen to be wearing the school uniform or otherwise representing the school at the time)
This list was spread both through Facebook and throughout the school. Is it valid to address this as an online harassment case when the article does not even make clear which distribution method the teenager is being charged with disorderly conduct for?
The interesting question that raises is - should it matter? It's not like Facebook is some private members-only forum like a private conversation with a bunch of misogynist mates at the pub. Sure you can turn off Facebook, just like you can never go outside, but I don't think that's the solution here...
Computing was super cool back in the day, but it's so much cooler now
You don't use facebook or youtube much do you? The internet back then was more information and less opinion. There's a lot more information out there now which is great, but _everybody_ wants to share their opinion with _everyone_, and nobodies opinion except mine is worth listening to!;p

If your risk management strategy is to not travel in anything as or more dangerous than an airplane then you'll be walking everywhere.
Wrong name in TFS.
They aren't allowed to mention his real name :)

pedantic-much?

He was a kook once before though
Finding People ...who thought the rapture would come, and asking them the obvious question, "Where is your god now?"
Or even better... ask them why they didn't ascend when some of your other Christian friends did.

I don't think Harold Camping was the first kook by a looong shot.
We can take some comfort in knowing that if he's right, he'll be the last kook.
Haven't you read the literature? You are supposed to have put all your pets to sleep already... or don't you truly believe? ;)
In 2 minutes time it will be 6pm in Republic of Kiribati (UTC+14) so we'll know one way or the other...

Seems the one part that you can rely on.
It can definitely done, but it will be too heavy to fly.
BTW, in the age of fly by wire, pilot error remains the number one cause of accidents.
I believe the reason for that is that when it all goes wrong the computer disengages the autopilot and hands control over to the meat pilots...
