Because Best Buy charges $40 for a cable that's $4.99 with free shipping at new egg. Brick and mortar stores have resorted to extorting consumers on certain smaller items for which they can count on people not wanting to wait for a delivery.

Plus, large scale online outfits are probably more "green" that brick and mortar stores anyway. They only operate some offices and warehouses and any delivery fuel usage is mostly offset by deliveries to a brick and mortar store plus the consumer driving to and from the store.

In fact, they can't actually do that since classifications aren't enforceable against non-DoD civilians.

I can also tell you that from what I saw of the culture there... this will not go over well, from the CO of RTC down to the RDC's, they all think it's more ridiculous than you to, to put it lightly. The real problem is with the PFA standards. Not only are they ridiculously easy, but of the three (push-ups, sit-ups, run) you only really have to pass the run. You can do shitty, half-ass sit-ups/push-ups that your buddy is counting for you... so yeah. With the run they strap a tracking bracelet to you, so you can't cheap that one.

Last I checked (two months ago?) Chrome had no ad blockng to speak of. Sure, there's AdSweep and AdBlock+, but they just hide ads with CSS, where Firefox stops the ads from ever being downloaded. When I was using Chromium regularly I ended up using Privoxy for ad blocking.

As I understood the situation at the time, this shortcoming was due to the functionality not being possible in Chrome. So, the browser from the company that sells ads has limited ad blocking functionality. Is anyone really surprised?

You need to use the line out instead of the headphone jack to get live level output that completely bypasses the internal amp circuity. Unfortunately, for the iPod this means getting a line out device that attaches to the port on the bottom.

At any rate, use the line out for what it's intended and this won't be a problem for you. :)

On the flip side, there are also a lot of headphones with high impedance? Portable players can't even push many headphones without an external amp as it is. Given the vast array of headphones available, it's impossible to determine what 100dB really is. If they limit it to 100db from the stock earbuds, for example, I'll barely be able to hear my full size 300 Ohm impedance Sennheisers.
