    Fly west, when night comes, turn your plane around and fly towards the approacing dawn (east), this way you reduce the nighttime and increase daylight :)

    If they would have just taken Gcc "out of the box" and benchmarked what you said would have been true. But they heavily optimised gcc by adding G5-specific code (from IBM's compiler? I hope IBM hasn't stolen it from someone else ;) and specific "lax" malloc() routines etc...

    The current NV30 cards do have some other disadvantages: They take up two
    slots, and when the cooling fan fires up they are VERY LOUD. I'm not usually
    one to care about fan noise, but the NV30 does annoy me.

    I live in Sweden, but I guess Norweigian justice-system is about the same as here. You have something called "Tingsrätt" who is a local court (about 80 of thoose in Sweden). Both sides can appeal the judgement to a higher court called "Hovrätt" (about 4) and finally you can appeal to "Högsta Domstolen" (like the supreme court in US I guess) but they only try certain cases.

    So no Double Jeopardy.

    My guess is that there will be many here who will moan over Google being stupid, but of course they are doing the right thing following the law of each country in this case.

    If the laws are wrong both Germany and France are fairly democratic countries so advocate to change the laws instead. Make it legal to spread nazi-propaganda i Germany etc...

    with most other forms of annoying advertising you could contact someone and tell them to go to hell (more or less).

    This is not the case with email spam. Sure I could fake a credit card numer (this is illegal though) and order lots of their products?

    Any other ideas besides just trying to filter and deleting spam?

    I did get hold of one company sending SPAM to me and also the persons mobile phone number who where responsible... Let's just say there are a lot of free services from where you can send SMS *evil smirk*

    replace something which obiously works well and is designed to do just this task with something that might work?

    The operating system is free (beer) as it comes with the machine. The machine is designed for running large databases.

    Of course there is lot of overlap. Not quite-so-large or not-quite-as-mission-critical systems can (and do) run Linux.

    Why try to use the same tool for everything?

    I did the same thing on my old Amiga. Same result, the damn thing simply didn't work. Hmm... backup... maybe I should backup my home system some time. Lot's of data, never backup up in 3 years... Ah, disk crasches won't happen to me ;)

    Where have you been for the last 10 years ? To make money on stocks you don't have to guess how the actual company that has the stocks are performing but rather how everyone else will do.
