Well it is a start, if everyone thought like you did, we would all be driving cars that get 6 miles to the gallon and paying half our salary just to get to work.
"Additional standards give you more choice over a period of time," Alan Yates, general manager, business strategy with Microsoft's information worker group, said Wednesday. "Governments should be open to both [Open XML and OpenDocument] and whatever else is rolling down the street. Choosing both is really wise."
Translation: We at Microsoft were really disappointed when we heard the State of Massachusetts was not 'agile' and were not going to 'realize their full potential' by going to the Open Document Format. We thought it over, and found that when you can't beat 'em join 'em. Just look at us trying to catch up with google. If we can create our own version of the same thing, it might just keep us in the game.
Didn't the naysayers say similar things about electricity and batteries during Benjamin Franklin's time? If you need electricity to produce hyrdrogen, put solar panels on the roofs of the hydrogen plants. Hydrogen power is going to be used in the future, bothersome or not.
BMW has the ability to make Hydrogen-powered production cars, it is a shame that they have not caught on yet. Current fuels will eventually go the way of the steam engine, or wait, maybe not the steam.
I heard a story about these Chinese hackers on the radio, apparently all of the data for the Mars Polar Lander was stolen as well.
Now China is planning on landing men on the moon within 15-20 years......coincidence?
"How long does it take to download The TCP/IP Guide?
About 2.5 hours using a 28.8kbps dialup modem; about 1.3 hours at 50kbps; about 8 minutes with 500kbps broadband." (http://www.tcpipguide.com/faq.htm)
Has anyone seen a 28.8kbps modem lately? I thought they were extinct.
The prospect of a tiered Internet with ''regular" and ''premium" broadband services is spawning fierce debate as Congress takes up a major overhaul of telecom regulations. The House of Representatives last month held hearings on a preliminary draft by two GOP congressmen, Joe Barton of Texas and Fred Upton of Michigan, that would give the telecom companies the freedom to establish premium broadband services. The telecom bill is due for action early next year.
Hmmm...I think I will do a search of these guys just to see what else they are involved with.

He talks about the bill, which goes to the full House in the coming week."
I can see where this 2-tiered internet is heading, more political scandals and tighter regulations of the internet. No thanks.

I say this is not bad at all for $100.00.

I am so confused.
Apparently this guy lied several times in his research writings, maybe just start over and see if he can duplicate his results?
Well it is a start, if everyone thought like you did, we would all be driving cars that get 6 miles to the gallon and paying half our salary just to get to work.

apparently he never owned a betamax.
or had an 'Apprentice' TV show that was recently cancelled.

Or are you on house arrest?
For companies, ethics usually conflicts with maximizing profits for shareholders so, no.
If you want an ethical framework, you have to practice what you preach.
But they can't declare war on the people who manufacture all of their goods. That would only lead to a massive global economic recession.
What does that have to do with the fact that they want to regulate the internet?
Only if we were planning on paying much less.

This action obviously will not stem identity theft...
I think they meant to say 'prune' identity theft, as to cut the stem off completely.
that would mean GBs and GBs of data
I should have said TBs and TBs of data.
You mean YBs and YBs of data.

...to count the number of engineers. It would also help the unemployment figures.
It is interesting to note that the page with 'last year's flamewar' not one of the posts were modded as 'Troll' or 'Flamebait.'
Which begs the burning question: Is it possible to have a 'flame war' without one post being identified as 'Flamebait?'
Discuss.
How is NPR unreliable exactly?
Anyone got any dehydrated ice cream?

Man, I would hate to see who or what is held responsible.
A year of solid revenue growth has seen Red Hat's share price rise to $25 from $16 a year ago.
I would guess the stock will rise higher in the next few weeks, not a bad time to buy RHAT stock.
"Red Hat, Inc.: Stock Rating 9 - Red Hat, Inc., a mid-cap growth company in the technology sector, is expected to significantly outperform the market over the next six months with average risk."
