I clicked the 3yr link at the top of the chart and it made a pretty cool re-size effect, and the top bar changed too. Looks like you can click and drag either side of the total time line bar to change the zoom to any time period for the fund.

"we are proposing a 20 percent tax credit for qualified out-of-pocket expenses for open source software developers."

Well let's see what "out-of-pocket" expenses are defined as. Because my 'Home-Office' is paid for out of pocket. So that roughly 100 square foot room represents about 1/10th of my house's square footage. Figure the cost of the house minus the land, that's like $140k, which means I should be able to claim 20% of $14k for that expence. And then their are the numerous PCs, the custom built desks, the wiring, the internet connection... I bet I could pull enough expences out of that room to fully clear my taxes for a year, and enough residuals to help cut down from there on.

I wonder what limitations there are on this, if I could put a dent in my income tax by switching some game mods and tools to open source, I would switch them in a heart beat. 8 hours a week on a pet project to cut down on taxable income, a deal too sweet to pass up.

Compared to a Movie, I paid $8.25 to see Underworld 2. Run time 106 minutes, but you could theoretical count the travel time and previews as "entertainment" so let's call it a 3 hour event. That puts the cost at $2.75/hour.

For me, $15 is a drop in the bucket. I would prefer to not have adds (specifically since I play high fantasy games usually) but in some games (the NFS series for instance) Ads can be put in the game seamlessly in a way that does not break immersion.

"fires 5.56-millimeter rounds at 750 rounds per minute or the M240, which fires 7.62-millimeter rounds at up to 1,000 per minute"

Those are cyclic rates, as in the fastest the hardware can theoretically move. Realistically, you'll never see those rates. If you are firing more then 5-7 round bursts for any period more then a few seconds you will start cooking rounds, and all sorts of bad things will happen. The M240 comes with 2 barrels for field use, so that in situations where you need to be firing 5-7 second bursts for extended periods of time, or extended sprays you can swap barrels. If you don't swap barrels often enough, you will start cooking off rounds. That's what happens when the heat from the barrel causes the charge in the round to ignite with out the firing pin hitting the primer. Once that starts happening the guy will fire uncontrolled until the ammo feed is interrupted (ie: a gunner grabs and twists the feed). If the gun is left to free fire and the ammo chain is long enough the barrel will get hot enough to soften, which can lead to the tip of the barrel sagging, rounds jamming in the barrel, and eventually the barrel will rupture. IOW, all sorts of beije.

I worked for a non-consumer bank as a consultant a few years back, and I was rather concerned with what I saw there.

To prevent possible security breaches, none of the machines had access to the internet except for a few special machines. Those machiens where not suppose to have access to the internet and the intranet at the same time. What actually happened was that those employees with "one or the other" access figured out they could just leave both cables plugged in and no one would know.

Towards the end of my contract, relations where breaking down. The IS Coordination was accusing me of purposely introducing bugs to inflate my hours, and I was accusing her of blatant incompetence. The bug that she had been accusing me of creating happened only on the normal staff's PC. My laptop, and her brand new PC worked fine. Turns out that not only were they using an out dated version of Vines (v3 -> v6) they had also not patched it on any of the worker machines (They were on v3.0, and at that time v3 was patched to v3.3). Her machine and my laptop had been fully patched. The problem wound up being one of the dated libraries included in Vines 3.0.

Unregulated internet access + outdated and compromised network system + a high volume of multi-million dollar transactions = receipt for disaster.
