yea i saw that 512mb & 256mb L2's.. can i have one:)
it is 512kb & 256kb L2's.. and for the record the p3 coppermine (which is the one with 256kb L2) is not jsut another p3 "No real changes from the 600 MHz version" is completely wrong..
clock for clock the p3 coppermine is the fastest proccessor ever designed.. sure it can't do everything that the new stuff can do, but that wasn't what it was ment to do.
the coppermine was a wonderfull design and i would love to see intel bring it back from the dead and make some new high clock cpus with that core - i have heard some reports that that is what they did with the new line "core" but i don't know...
i agree with you personaly it sounds like he was tring to do something funky with the setup..
it is easy to mis configure a cisco router/switch to where it will only work part of the time.. best thing to do is just flash it and start over.. only takes 30min no mater what your config looks like..
and if you can't read/redo your config in 30min then yes, you have a configuration problem
take 10 small servers that do the front end grunt work with 2-3 backup servers that keep complete working images of the servers and have access to their data..
a front end server dies service can roll over to a backend until the front is replaced and is quickly made jsut like the orginal a backend dies and you have a second and if all the backups die then you still have the front end to recreate the backups..
you don't normaly consider the bandwith costs as they are typicaly on a highspeed network between them and it offers you the option of replication over diffrent connections and areas..
all redundent disks help with is if a disk dies not if ram or cpu fails
some people have gotten too attached to their physical backups and tapes - personaly a backup is worthless if i can't have live access to it in a few min even if i am not physicaly at the point of failure..
this isn't particulary useful for small setups but is great for mid to large scale setups and offers plenty of room to grow.
it is an intel card.. so yes you can flash it.. my best guess about it (by looking at the packets spewing out of it) is that it is doing bogus bootp stuff. with malformed headers and mac's and everything.. and on most networks that is valid trafic and switchs will forward them out all ports and most routers unless they are border routers will send them to any close subnets. and considering it is a gigabit card.. given a nice connection it can saturate a network quickly..
I got a network card here on my desk.. you plug it in and give it power and it just sends massive random data over the line.. as fast as the cable can handel.. the weird part is it is valid packets and switchs proccess them and forward them.. it died one day and took out a portion of the UNC network.. i keep it just incase i ever need to kill some ones network
just what we need.. some random ball of crazy code to go in and mess with the the interworking bits and distroy each and every cell it can..... wait.. i think Sony might have something there with the PS3
I recomend what ever does the application best. jsut wanted to point out to the MS bashers that they didn't screw up with 2003.. they findly made a decent product..
"and Sony says it will be better than the Xbox 360's features"
you think... i don't think they would come out and say "we are going to add this thing but the 360 blows us out of the water.. hell we wish we had that feature set on this thing"
everything you do is better in your own eyes.. only others (and not the people you pay) can tell you if it really is
my solution to this was to find a small company.. while it isn't as much as i would like it is good and covers the bills and lets me set aside for the later times..
i would never work for a large company again.... you become too esaily expendable
i will applogize i didn't see the word often.. i am just tired of listening to people whom have found nmap and think they are security gods.. i like to beat them with sticks.. alas there is never a stick near by when needed
i was just pointing out that ms has really backed off on their pricing for the server 2003 line.. (make note this is web and standard their ent is still more than a good used car)
i am not so sure about the windows being more expensive than Unix.. (UNIX not *nix) - Server 2003 licensing isn't that bad.. and for the web/standard is very reasonable.
and i will also note that windows server 2003 is quite nice.. they did a good job with the secure by default and there hasn't been any bad cases of flaws and holes in it yet.
I would like to see the volume of servers and cost associated with hardware but i don't think people want to give that info away.
as for the.NET - this is true alot of schools are moving that way and one of the benifits of having a windows server verses Unix is that they can run ASP.Net and jsp and just about any other language crap they want.
"Java already does MT pretty well, right?"
the only thing java does well is eat memory

yes you are missing the point..

just put some delphi blocks on it.. or remake the cable.. if network cable is made write it cancels it's own em feild and doesn't cause interference
I was thinking the same thing as i read that post..
if SCO was smart they would wait till he got it back to earth then show the violation of the claim, they are sneeky little basters like that

.. i keep it incase i don't like someone..
again
looks like you found your self a leftover offtopic... i bet i find one too

add to your sig.. "a skirt"
my first though
"Why Vista Won't Suck " because it will blow?

in the US you can get them aroudn 2.5-3 cents per disk.. even after the conversion to the lunnie.. you are getting screwed
I always loved that..
when our sun dies it will take 8 1/2 min for us to notice that we are all roaly screwed
you can get some intresting things from damaged media.. mabey even a copy of windows that works :)
I recomend what ever does the application best. jsut wanted to point out to the MS bashers that they didn't screw up with 2003 .. they findly made a decent product..

"they attempt to shut down distribution channels for all large binary files"
and for this i propose the use of trinary files.. (off, maybe,on) just think how much more you could store..
funny when i use nmap against any of my internet boxes it gets confused and gives up..
sounds like you should be worried about giving you opinion on security maters
perosnaly i don't care if it is windows or *nix..
i was just pointing out that ms has really backed off on their pricing for the server 2003 line.. (make note this is web and standard their ent is still more than a good used car)
all but the golf one.. you have a good posiable point.. which is jsut a sad realization of the world around us
