yes but for us that have large e-book collections.. it isn't that bad.. i have alot of e-books.. and i paid ~400$ for my pda which i mainly use for e-books and slashdot.. so based on the value i get from slashdot.. i spent 400$ for an e-book reader..
In my home town the cops seized around 400lbs of weed on a boat.. reported in the news paper when and when they would be disposing of it by burnning it in the inconrator (which was down down)
that whole damn city block was covered with people.. and it was a good day for the people on the west side.... (off shore wind:)
well i am not to worried about this.. my main mail server (that filters for several others) is set to delete the logs every 15min because well if not they eat up alot of space.. and if they want to get to the messages well then they will have to do a little work because i seem to remember forgetting the password to that box..
personaly i am saddened to see them going down.. but i think what would be one great way to go out would be to open everything they have up to the public.. jsut before they sink..
if they where to open up everything they have.. it would create such chaos in the market..
i would love to see it.. &&&*88> ok i am awake now.. crap
in FPS it has been my experience that everyone hunts down the sniper first.. because he is the most annoying..
you give good points about the medic and the fact that they should carry a weapon.. no one should be put into a battle situation without a way to defend them selves.. it is jsut neglagent to do that
To comment on it.. cost.. we can do just about every thing you have listed but the cost is far out of the range that people can afford..
the auto darking glass (welders use them all the time) the tracking of eye movement for an interface.. Apache Longbow.. the piolt uses an eye peice for controling the chain gun.. it aims where he looks in the view finder.. and he can even control fire rate with one eye..
it all exists and it all can be done but the shear cost associated with development and deployment is massive..
mix that with the fact that very vew piolts have the ablity to control each eye indivdualy and therefor very few even have the phyical requirements to use such a device..
It all sounds great and wonderful but i don't see it happening anytime soon..
now this guy just wants to make a semi passive device that helps vision.. sounds like a digtial camera lens that can correct on the back end.. it seems neat and is posiable.. the trick is going to be making it wearable for long periods of time
The pronlem i see with this is times like now.. down in florda..
there exists an area of low income housing that has been around for 30 years.. people live and work there it has a low crime rate.. it is jsut mainly poorer people.. BUT it also happens to be bay front property..
A contractor convinced the town to use eminent domain to take any houses that are condimed and allow the land to be redeveloped...
the contractor then paid for inspectors to go through inspecting ALL the houses.. and condimed jsut about all of them..
now the people in them get paid the value of their home when it is taken by eminent domain.. but their houses are condimed SOO they are getting next to nothing.. and the developer is taking the land in chunks and turning it into a multi billion dollor yacht club..
this hasn't fully happend as people are taking it to court and the contractor and his friends in the town are saying that they are doing for the good of the comunity..
eminent domain is one of the most abused things out there.. and i can not agree with you at all on that topic
i just have a vcr without AGC it works wll
i don't think they can get them for DRM.. it isn't a DRM feature .. region codes have the only purpose of being used for price discrimination

ironicly slashdot renders very well on my pda.. because it just shows the text and nothign else..
ok so that made me laugh.. most i jsut chuckle at but that was just so truthful
"the Emperor comes off interesting (by now he's clearly the only character in the prequels that is really all that interesting)"
L ord_is_Pope

i like the game of bashing people that like halo for the gfx with their own xbox..
:)
it is quite fun... and if you get some like mind people together and go to an arcade you can even do multi player
sweet..

don't have anything to test it with.. wonder if they give free boxes to people who want to try and take a stab at it.
oh man.. you read way to far into that comment.. i was waiting to get moded offtopic or troll..
they like to do that to me..
I don't know if that post should be modded funny or sad.. but they don't give me the sad option

the sad part is it seemed relevent.. but more likly that the poster is the person for the job.. we shall see him on cnn
findly someone on slashdot with a brain.. reading most of the posts i jsut want to slap the people.. you my friend get a pat on the back..
i think this is a great idea.. it is going to be hard to enforce but is doable and good.
now does anyone know where i can help?
