wile i understand that they monitor doesn't have a way to determined the actual distance.. most people sit in the same range.. again this should be something that the machine adjusts by default and can be override by the user.. not something that is ignored by default and only set by the user.
the fact that the user has to adjust the DPI is sad.. when they implemented DDC they should have had it also report the physical size/dimensions of the screen along with the different resolutions so that the driver/OS if it wanted could auto adjust the DPI without user intervention.
MS never offered full backward compatibility nor did they advertise it.
the original PS3 advertising did offer full backward compatibility. then when they deiced it cost them too much they just stopped talking and yanked it.
MS was honest up front that they wouldn't make all games work but would work for getting the main stream ones going (and they did just that)
Sony did the closest then they good in way of a legal bait and switch.. in that they pulled advertised features from a product without giving a distinction.
Yes - to the point that a cell tower should and will drop other calls to open of a channel for the 911 call. same as pots switches dropping connections to route 911 (and some times 0/Operator)
for cell phones if i remember correctly it isn't the # dialed that causes the escalated response but rather the phone reporting to the tower that it is an emergency call - i remember some old Nokia phones could be hacked to change the number dialed for emergency - it also had the side effect that the people where not billed for the air time. it was a hole that developed and was closed very quickly (i'm remembering this from ~7 years ago - would have to look it up again)
you cannot remain outside of the collective agreement and retain your job. In most of the US you don't have to join a union to work in a union shop. Now, you have to pay the same costs as dues to support the infrastructure (stewards, negotiators, etc) that benefits you, but you don't have to actually join the union.
you are correct that there isn't a Law stating you have to join if it is a Union shop.. and if you don't join you don't have to pay dues as the stewards and negotiators are there for the union not you.
BUT i will say in a lot of Union places where they are a very large part of the community - say a 1-2 plant town.. if you are working and are NOT in the union the community will (sadly) usually make it worth your while to join or leave town.
rather than a router i could see this being used to compromise VPN concentrators and things of that manner - as then not only can you give your self access to other resources but at the same time you can skim more credentials than just the admin for that device - which would then allow you to get just about anywhere you want.
just pulse it man -.. if it goes in 30 seconds use it for 29.. wait a min and do it again.. that seems to work.. at least until they "lose containment"
I watch SGU because as you said it's the best sci-fi on the air right now..
but sadly there have been times i felt like i would rather watch Lexx just to try to figure out what the writers where thinking..
it would be the same experience as watching SGU.
although i'm sad they are pulling it i'm still more annoyed by them yanking Atlantis in two episodes with zero warning - and leaving a huge story line just sitting out there.
it all comes down to money.. SG1 did well and made them a lot of money - Atlantis took that idea and added a lot more special effects and Cost to it (i'd hate to see their costume bill compared to SG1) but adding all that didn't make the profits come in any better so it is shown as less profitable (even though it was doing well). so they cut to SGU to try and change that - dumb it down and try to pull a BSG - and they have just failed..
if i'm going to deal with the cold - might as well do it right.. i'm sure they will let me in if i'm looking to move to the Yukon and work in industry up there..
what will be interesting is when it gets into interstellar space - too see how its trajectory changes and why. will there be a strong wind to take it else where or will it no longer per part of our solar system momentum through the universe - or will it just keep going as if everything i sitting still..
I can understand if the User was using netflix and it was working fine then due to congestion it started to lag and skip they might blame Comcast..
but at the same time a user who has never seen it work correctly doesn't know who to blame for the problem and is more likely to just top using it.
but if they stop using it they will still want their content - the next best service that "doesn't lag out" is video on demand..
the average joe doesn't know anything about how an ISP works or over sells bandwidth.. but they can see very clearly that netfilx skips and lags and video on demand doesn't.. let me use the one that works.. and ignoring the fact that their service provider is intentional skewing things in their favor
as far as i'm concerned this is anti competitive and using their monopoly on the connection to sell other services and should be dragged into court under antitrust laws.
i under stand your argument - but at the same time look at what i wrote..
i have insurance i get sick - its a life long problem now.
i get laid off i can't afford health insurance
i get a job and can once again afford health insurance and whee now i can't get covered.
now that little "condition" costs me more than my house in the meds alone - why?? because the government gave the drug company a patent and exclusive rights to make and sell it and they are gouging every cent they can off of it.
i don't know what is right or wrong.. but i do know that the state of health care in the US is a racket - specifically designed to bleed the common person dry.
maybe you make a compromise.. keep the pre-existing condition clauses but only for 6-months to 1 year.. after that they have to cover it. I know that is how my dental insurance works..
trust me i fully understand - as much as i hate the cold.. if i was ever in the spot where i couldn't get coverage and my meds cost as much as they do now.. i'd be moving to Canada.
Harassment is different from the established Fax spam laws.. which is what i was replying too.
there are plenty of laws and precedent for Fax spam and what i was referring to was that - if they want to try to file harassment charges which are completely different then feel free, but my statement stands for the Fax spam and phone fraud laws.
the law states that i can't falsify who i am when faxing - and that at the receivers request i must stop sending unsolicited faxes.
problem is... if i'm always busy (dialing your fax number) you can't exactly call me to ask me to stop - nor can you fax me to ask me.. best they can do and is within the law is to call the bell and request either an operator override and block the number and have the bell send the request.
either way given the short window given for this DoS as long as people aren't trying to hide who they are when sending them then they aren't breaking the law.
i have issues with the "pre existing conditions" mainly the fact that some times you just can't afford health insurance.. aka where i work now i have coverage - and i have a condition.. if i was to be laid off then my only option would be cobra which is exceptionally expensive (prohibitively so) and hope that i can afford it (i can't) until i can find a job with insurance.. if there is even a day or less of lapse then they say "pre existing condition" and i can't get coverage for it.
now in hind sight i didn't always need treatments - in fact for years i had coverage and never went to a doctor.. but now my meds cost more than my house (without insurance)..
i know there is more than one problem here that needs to be solved.. and letting the industry "solve" it just won't happen. there is too much money in it for them to keep things broken.
so would you consider TLS/SSL DRM? it is a form of multi "Content Protection"
wile i understand that they monitor doesn't have a way to determined the actual distance.. most people sit in the same range .. again this should be something that the machine adjusts by default and can be override by the user.. not something that is ignored by default and only set by the user.

Yeah? In that case how do you explain Afganistan? No oil. No wealth. Plenty of fundamentalism and poverty to go around.
except for the extremists who are not poor but are rather controlling the flow of drug money from the poor farmers to the rest of the world.
Afghanistan is poor except for the drug market - then there is a small group making a lot of money.
my personal favorate was years ago - a guy bought a PC66 dimm and took it home to install it
when he brought back and complained it didn't work i noticed the notch on the chip had been cut and widened
long argument short - it wouldn't fit so he figured memory is memory and cut out the notch to make it fit..
he needed an EDO dimm - i was more surprised that nothing was damaged.. i still wouldn't take the memory as a return.
1 Gbit != 1 GB
8*1Gbit = 1 GB
last i checked normal form factor could fit 16 chips so 2GB stick... after that you have to go to higher density.
last i checked 2GB on a stick was still a decent amount.
Well using the remote wipe via exchange does just that.
unless you are going sarcasm because it is a walled garden, if so you for got your tags.

oh i don't like how they wrapped it up nor how they ended it..
i was just commenting on the overall feel and cinematography of the Vegas episode on its own free standing merit as a spoof of CSI.
in no way was i supporting the way they ended it.
just pulse it man -.. if it goes in 30 seconds use it for 29.. wait a min and do it again.. that seems to work.. at least until they "lose containment"
The only original episode they ever did was when the shuttle was stuck halfway between the gate. That was it.
I give the writers props for the way they pulled off spoofing CSI with the Vegas episode - that was while not exactly original was very well done.

and the best part - is for VGA - the quality of the cable matters - for DVI it doesn't..
VGA is analog and there for poor conductors and degrade the signal and a cause a change to the image
DVI is digital and there for a poor conductor can only effect signal if it prevents transmission at the necessary rate..
love how marketing has turned the avg joe into an idiot..
i have a VGA to 5 coax cable. it even handles the sync on green if needed (although that is a second adapter..)
