The lack of a moving violation has an advantage for the motorist.
Here in Illinois, red-light tickets do not affect your driving record or insurance rates.
As a bicyclist in a city where red lights mean "four more cars!", I was happy to see the red light cameras arrive. Even after getting a ticket as a driver. The on-line video of my violation was educational - it looked like an audition for "Cops". I'm a lot more careful now.
Summary of what Facebook actually did: "Beacon was designed to broadcast back to their friends the actions that Facebook members took on participating Web sites...Many people were horrified to find out that their friends were being informed of actions, like purchases, they had undertaken in other Web sites."
Until 1880, US patent applications required a working model, no larger than 12" x 12" 12".
A huge number are now in the Rothschild Petersen Patent Model Museum.
It's completely unethical for bestbuy to go along with microsoft on pushing this course onto their employees. A retailer is promoting products it *does* sell over products it *does not* sell?
Shocking. This is worse than the Holocaust. They are Nazis or Commies, whichever is worse.
I want a boycott, a Congressional investigation, a '60 Minutes' expose and a Papal encyclical.
TIA!
My knee-jerk reaction was that the proprietary lenses (Canon) and imaging chip (Nokia) would limit customization.
But they could be interchangeable, like monitors and printers on personal computers.
We're taking a beating both as taxpayers and parking payers.
For parkers, hourly rates increased dramatically. They will more than double in the Loop (central business district), and neighborhood rates will be up 8X by 2013.
On the taxpayer side, my back of the envelope calculation says we were robbed:
The lease was $1.2 billion cash for 75 years.
Before the deal, the city made $20 million/year off the meters.
If the city kept the meters and doubled rates to $40 million, they would equal $1.2 billion in 30 years (not including interest).
...enter the spot number they parked in at the pay box... There are no delineated spots. When they remove the old meters, there is simply a continuous stretch of curb.
What happens if parking enforcement comes around while you're in the middle of the walk-wait-pay-walk process? You get a ticket. I came close once, I had to run back to my car, waving the slip and yelling to get the ticket writer's attention.
We simply use UserName_SocialSecurityNumber_Room#_DayOfWeek
For example: JaneDoe_123456789_314A_Thursday
Since the day of the week tends to change, we have simple startup scripts which fix the workstation name each morning, assuming they shut down the previous evening.
...from world-renowned scientist Jenny McCarthy.
I'm not acting until I here what world-renowned scientist Jenny McCarthy has to say.
Those are your two choices at each intersection? A ticket or getting rear-ended? Must suck to be you.
You may want to review your driving skills, maybe take some classes.
Is running red lights important to you?
And always read XKCD's alt text.
It gets the "libertarians" worked up.

Not dead. She's resting!
Like when auto makers pulled out of the California market due to emission restrictions?

Without heart monitors and GPS, humans would not have survived into the 21st century.
Before I gained sentience (circa 2007) and fled the area, Oakland County Michigan was rolling out wifi. How's that going?
Do you observe officers wiretapping somebody's connection often?

Laugh if you want, but the "Windows 7 Party Pack" is a box of condoms and booze!

As the post says, you can "Use coins".
Esquire had an E-ink cover last year. Was there any interesting re-purposing?
Google tells me it was possible but I didn't find any interesting projects.

The very large DOJ org I work with has no union people in IT. Or in any support positions, except maybe the contracted cleaning crews.
...of his peoples' accomplishment!
