    Or the Japanese for making cheaper cars.

    Stop complaining and either become that much more compeetitve/invaluable or learn another field.

    Its not ROI that the dot coms burned ppl on. It was badly informed not well researched investments.

    Pfizer spends hudge amounts of money on equipment that will not have an immediate ROI. I'm sure Viagra took a while to develop and quite a bit of money.

    Its just that stupid ppl were oohhhed and aaahhhed into buying absoulate crap that did not and would not fit into their business model.

    Rather than avoid infrastructure/software upgrades make an informed decision..rather than a blanket statement

    Its not about who's paying more tax. Lets not forget this is not a country of indivuals but a community.

    The idea is that well-off ppl who have a lot ot spare can help the community more than poor ppl.

    Just using your argument if the rich have soo much then they should pay more (for military, law enforcment etc.) to protect their assets.

    Fine..choose a place that suits you. I really don;t think one system is better than another. Choose which ever one fits you.

    Pay less tax and save for rainy days or pay more tax and have the govt. pay for your rainy days.

    As Monty python would say...

    Lets not bicker and argue about who taxed who (or something like that)

    This doesn't sound like a rationale to make money, more to stall for time. Sounds like MicroSoft is just stalling the acceptance of Linux.

    According to you he has too much time on his hands. I myself enjoy doing this type of stuff, even if its only 0.01% increase its the satisfaction of achieving it rather than that extra 0.1 frame per second.

    But then again I am no engineer I just a pathetic physicist who likes to tinkle around with stuff I know nothing about.

    I'm waiting for the 3 Ghz Jesus model to come out. Apparently it would be able "to do miracles!" I don't know about this marketing hype sometimes, you kind of have to see it to believe it.

    As I belive someone else has pointed out a 30" CRT does not mean you get 20" viewable area. Thats the size of the tube.

    As for 333Mhz its a close enough approxiamtion. Nvidia has done something else. Its in effect forged/tailored benchmark results. All the examples you have quoted do none of that. If anything they use a measure that you are not familiar with, which is more your fault than the manufacturers.

    You are right its no excuse. Also the blame doesn't just lie with admins alone. Most companies (usually mamangers) are more interested in keeping the production servers going.

    There is a lot of pressure on admins to make sure productions servers don't go down or if they do its for a very short time.

    I don't know how managers rationalize when servers should go down for maintaneince but I think it has to do with those two awful words RISK MANAGMENT

    The whole attitude seems reflected in US fiction such as Star Trek, StarGate. The US ideas of justice are taken as entirely good, and applicable to even alien races. Notice that the intergalactic federations in these programs are centered around the Earth, and even perhaps around America, and uphold entirely America's ideals.

    This shouldn't be that surprising. These are american shows. If you watch Gallipoli or the light horsemen they glorify Australians becasue they are australian movies. Probably the same goes for german and russian movies each highlighting their culture and ideals.

    Here is another unmanned vehicle that is quite cheap to make
    and seems to do the job just as well called the aerosonde.
    It is designed for gathering weather data etc. not probably what the military
    wants.

    Also it flew across the Atlantic.
