Actually, it's not fine for the command line, either. Most people seem to forget that your (local) typing does not directly cause characters to appear in your (local) terminal; your (local) typing causes your (remote) connection to echo the characters back to your (local) terminal.
I think its pretty safe to assume that linemode would use local echo while you are entering a line. I didn't spell it out in my original post because I figured that common sense would allow most people to make that leap.
Sooner or later someone will patch an SSH client
to go to linemode, where the client sends only
one packet for each section of the session
between carriage returns.
Thats fine for the comand line, but it doesn't work so well for interactive editors.
There's a wonderful new encryption algorithm. I call it ROT 0. You take the text and encrypt it by rotating it 0 letters. I shall use this encryption algorithm in all my copyrighted works. Now I can go sue/arrest anyone who distributes a program that copies pure text!
I really don't see why Dolby would have a problem with people cracking open their standard. It isn't useful for copying, you don't need to be able to open the audio stream to copy it. The only reason you'd want to decode the audio is if you planned on watching it which Dolby shouldn't have a problem with. Am I missing something obvious or is Dolby just being a jerk?
I'm sure that they would prefer that any implementations of their patented process would pay them a licensing fee.
1. The apes came from the monkeys. So where did the horses come from on the planet? \
The "other" planet was earth... the horses weren't killed off by whatever killed off most of human society.
2. Ending - how can the future effect the past? As I understand it the majority of the movie takes place in the 27th century (or something like that). So at the end when he goes back to the 21st century how can there be a memorial to General Thade when he doesn't exist until the 27th century?
The "ending" was earth again... but it was showing an alternate timeline in which Leo never showed up to overthrow the apes. It was showing what ape society would eventually evolve into.
I'd be fine with it as long as they made these "features" optional and uninstallable.
They can go ahead and make them "recommended" and part of the "typical" (non-custom) install, but give me a CHOICE!!
I'm sure the average (l)user appreciates these extra features but anyone that knows what they're doing would rather not install the resource hogs in the first place.
I think they meant to say that it was the first commercially-available DVD-RW.
Actually that would DVD+RW, not DVD-RW... There have been DVD-RW drives out on the market already.
DVD+RW and DVD-RW are different (non-compatible) formats... its another Beta vs. VHS

I just use ROT13 twice, so I'm doubly protected!!
If an organization calls itself ??AA, it's gonna take away you freedom... MPAA, RIAA, FTAA...
I guess I better look for a new insurance provider...
The only downside to these units was the fact that after about 10 minutes of use, the air would start getting /real/ hot.
I suppose that's why it would work well underwater? The heat would disapate quickly with all that cold water around.
So... ummmm... how many times a day do visit that site? Obviously its often enough to notice the change.
*Backs away*
Take it another step... don't do the decryption in the soundcard, send the encrypted stream to the speakers.
of course then you can always just put a microphone in front the speakers

Zone Alarm has ALREADY been updated to be XP compatible
It has? Where can I find the update? I could not find any mention of it on their web site.

As soap and I bathe in soup??!?
Who are they going to sue next? Johnson and Johnson for their AIM Toothpaste? Or should J&J be suing AOL instead?
You mean that really big room with the green shag carpet and the really bright light? The big ball of fire in the sky scared me so came back in here.

Looks like Drawmap couldn't handle the /. effect, because it produces a 404 now.
Got Mirror?
Anybody know if there is a Drawmap xscreensaver module available? If not, then somebody should make one. That would rock!
Anybody else find it kind of strange that the game is set in New York, yet New Yorkers can't win the contest?
Actually the game is set in Nevada. Las Vegas to be more specific.
So Scott, help me out. I want to give you money. How do I do it?
He gives you plenty of ways to support him.
Buy a shirt, a mug, a hat, a comic book, or even an original character sketch.
does anyone know which season featured the "family therapy" episode, where they shock eachother non-stop and cause a blackout?
That was season one, episode four.
You want one of these?
Could you imagine a Beo...
Ah, forget it!
Because I'm glad Bobby Flay lost.
Then make sure that you DO NOT watch Saturday's show.
Because if they ever make "The Iron Chef for the PS2" it will probably suck.
Well, they did make Kitchen Stadium Tour for the Sega Saturn, and from what I heard, it didn't suck.
UO is published by Electronic Arts, and EA is even more evil than Sony!
Now, if they were playing AC...
(oh wait, Asheron's Call is published by a greater evil than Sony and EA combined)
