I manage an active directory domain and I've taken care of the major offenders through group policy.
First, I attempt to download the spyware much like any user would. When I get the prompt asking me to approve this installation, I view the certificate that it was signed with and save the certicate to the file.
Next, I add that certificate to the list of banned certicates domain wide. It works great and fixes the problem of people installing spyware without knowing it.
...but have you seen their new "electronic ticket" (in canada anyway).... Pay ~$3 and you can print your ticket instead of getting it mailed or available at the will call window.... now that is the biggest scam I've ever heard of.... you pay money to save them the cost of postage or the cost providing you a ticket at the will call windows....
Of couse all of this effort is a waste of time if it can be found easily on your average P2P network. So of course I had a look at Kazaa(lite) and sure enough it looks like the entire CD is online anyway...
All this effort that the label went though hasn't done what it is supposed to. All they have in the end is a decline in sales, bad PR... and legitimate consumers that will stay as far away from the most common way to get music. Buying it in the store.
I had over 400 cds and this drives me wild. MP3's sound like crap most of the time, but if it worth buying I will. I normally buy a CD (that I want) on its release date, but now I am scared because I don't know if I can play it the way I want to.... consider me the scared consumer (and geek)...

Mod that up... That was great...
As a Canadian we have to live a breath the American influence... Trade between Canada and the US is in the worst state it has ever been. The US uses its massive influence and power to get its way... If Canadians stand up for what we believe we'd be considered terrorists and they would blow us to pieces...
It could be said that Microsoft is to the US and the US is to the World.
Maybe classic arcade games (Pacman, Ninteno I), but nothing anyone would ever want to pay money for... Especially if you have to go through the likes of Sun to get it.
