And if they had supported Romney, then Romney would be the one spying now and I imagine you'd still be saying the same things about Californians. Likewise about McCain. Yet, you don't hold Texans responsible even though they voted for the guy that originally put the system into place (or at least these pieces of it).
Just want to point out that most of the comments here are comparing this to Obama's award. Snowden has been NOMINATED but not awarded. It turns out a fairly large number of people have the ability to nominate recipients: http://www.nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/index.html
This really isn't news. It's more comment trolling by slashdot -- and they've been doing a very good job of it lately.
What, and releases classified information to foreign entities? Regardless of whether you think what Snowden did (and continues to do) is good or bad, he is a traitor to the country.
Why can't it be equal to saying that 'we're against unauthorized intrusive spying on you're own citizens'?... A critic of a part or it's government going rogue?
Oh, I see what you're doing. You're insinuating that this is all Obama's doing, as if this hasn't been the Government trend for many decades. It's funny that they've got you believing this is a difference between political parties.
I'd just like to point out that not only do we treat it as a privilege, but we also treat it like a cash cow from every angle. There is a TON of money to be made in US healthcare right now, and it's kind of sickening. Medical devices manufacturers, Doctors, Lawyers, insurers, all of these people are taking the money out of the system at unbelievable rates and the only ones putting money into that system are us. Yes, these private companies should be able to make a reasonable profit, but this is ridiculous.
When you have a heart attack, talk to me about your experience "shopping around" for the cheapest bypass surgery. What's that? You won't have time to shop around without dying? Oh. That's weird.
Similar but inverse: As a FTE I wrote regression tests for a web app using selenium. Handed the code over to a contractor when I move to a new position. I'm 100% positive those tests haven't been maintained or even run since then, since the app has come back under my management a few years later. We've been through so many different employees and contractors that I couldn't tell you which one let it slip first, but it's so far gone now it'd be a real project to bring it back up to par.
I'm guessing that by "Many" he really means "One" and that state had a very similar plan to what the Affordable Care Act is (and the people there seem to like it).
When Snowden outed himself, he said 'I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong' so why won't he come back and face trial? There are obviously plenty of lawyers who would love to represent him and the case will be covered like crazy by the media.
Truth is, he did do something wrong. He committed treason (and continues to, claiming he has more info about the NSA as if to bribe other countries for asylum). Whether he did it for good reason or bad has nothing to do with the fact he committed the crime. That's the deal with being an activist: you accept the punishment for what you did, even if you think the result of what you did was a good thing.
National City got nailed by a class action suit for exactly this a few years ago. At the end of the day, they would process all that day's withdrawals prior to that day's deposits, so you could overdraft but then end up net positive later in the day, regardless of the order the transactions actually were in. Since then, PNC bought them out and PNC handles it better.
There are two types of people that cause this problem to be bigger than it should be:
1. The people who are either too dumb or too rude to turn off their phone while in a theatre.
2. The people who make way too big a deal out of it when other people are dumb or rude.
Both of these types of people make the rest of us uncomfortable and break the movie experience for us. I see a lot of type #2 commenting on this thread. I guess the summary is asking for it, though.
How can you even see the guy's screen? I'm 6'8" tall and I still can't usually see what the person in front of me is doing within their seat past their head and their seat-back. Was the guy holding it up to his face like he forgot his glasses or something?

You will obey if/then, or else!

Thank you for the opportunity to share this relevant comic: http://www.xkcd.com/1238/
FTFY.
(Because time is money, of course)

Even if their can is connected to another can by a string?
Are you suggesting that people know ahead of time if they are going to have a heart attack?
Sure, but we haven't found nearby planets to explore which experience rain, mud and vegetation. Yet.

We also don't have retirement pensions, so there's really nothing to balance it out anyway.

Hear hear! I really wish since they didn't have any R votes anyway, they had just passed the law they & we really wanted anyway.

Or perhaps project management pushed deadlines way too hard and the devs did away with the useful-but-time-consuming stuff like tests & comments.
You don't think killing people ruins lives and families?
If you're not willing to trust anyone, then there's no point talking about anything with you.

Ah yeah, that's a good point, most of the theaters around where I live are pretty shallow-sloped.
So why work so hard to try to stop him from trying to change this perception? What good are you doing?
