You know, the flip side of that arguement is that the patent system is actually protecting the value of the drugs. If more people with AIDS are given the new and more effective drugs, the HIV virus will adapt more quickly, rendering the current drugs less effective.
Granted, that may seem offensive to some people because its basically saying that the value of human life isn't universal. I'm not actually taking this position, just playing devil's advocate here.
Really, AIDS drugs are a poor example because none of them actually cure the disease. (Although some may prevent the transmission to a child by a pregnant woman, that use should be promoted.)
The remote slipped out of my hand a few times the first time I played. No big deal, the strap saved it. Sweaty hands will do it.
I also watched a friend who had been drinking punch a chair with some force. Too funny. However, neither she or I would put the responsibility on Nintendo for our mistakes.
I think the problem with grip is, the more rubbery the controller is, the more likely it is to blister your hands. So there is no easy fix, its just a tradeoff.
>And well below the legal limit for temperature (which I think was 300 or something like that, I can't find the exact reference, but it changes based on locality.)
You realize that 212ish is the maximum, right? (Hence the autoclave comment - it would have to be under high pressure... really high, most autoclaves only go to 250.) If you're going to spout off, make sure you know what you're talking about.
And regarding Starbucks, I can tell you that none of the ones near me serve their coffee this hot. I know because I wouldn't be able to drink it if they did.
Here's a simple tip, if you want your coffee to stay warm, keep a lid on it. Duh.
>I wish there were some way to have the punative portion of corporate damanges go to someone other than the victim ($10 million dollars isn't very much to most multinationals but is far more than an individual needs for a comfortable life).
While I agree with giving juries additional options for awarding damages, I would not trade my genitals for 10 million dollars. Would you?
>The American military machine, touted as the strongest, most efficient, lethal, modern and advanced, has just got a beating from AK-47 wielding thugs of IRAQ.
Only because of restraint. That really isn't relevant to modern fighter planes. No one is shooting f16s with ak47s. Get real.
George Bush used to be smarter. He partied his way through shit and still pulled off ok grades. He might have had a bit of help, but he had to do some of that on his own. Unfortunately, he had a drinking problem, and after awhile all the keg parties caught up to him.
And I definately agree about his background, his real problem was one of lack of exposure. He led a rich life, so he can never understand the problems of the poor (or even middle class). Too bad that he screwed up his health then ended up president.
I know what you mean. I'm 5'10" and 160lb, which gives me a BMI of 23, basically borderline overweight. Yet I have 6-8% body fat, lift weights, and I'm in great shape.
Yet some people do think that BMI correlates with health, especially low BMI. This also promotes excessive dieting as people try to reach a "healthier" BMI/weight.
The irony is, the group that I know with the lowest BMIs are people that are too lazy to eat regular meals. Its not like they exercise either. They're the kind that have a "surprise" heart attack in their 50s. Oh well. At least they can apparently remember things better.
I go to a grocery store where the employees make minimum wage. If the manager isn't around and I have a bunch of groceries, the clerk just slides the produce past because its too much work to scan them. Good deal.
You guys need to drop the conspiracy theories and get with reality. Marijuana was made illegal because it was used by mainly negroes and mexicans. It was completely racially motivated. Just like drug laws today. (Crack cocaine sentencing, for instance.)
The fact that powerful lobby groups (paper/clothing idustries, dupont, tobacco) happened to support the ban was just icing on the cake.
The parent was right though, its kept illegal today because we need to think of the children.
That isn't true at all. Animals do make conscious decisions that cause harm all the time. Monkeys, for instance, sometimes kill out of anger or revenge. And many species are known to gang-rape females. And throughout the animal kingdom, animals who are stronger often bully or kill those that are weaker. Those are just a few examples off the top of my head.
In the real world, might equals right. I'm not saying I like it, and I'm not saying people can't do better. But really, cats don't set things on fire? No shit! Cats can't start a fire, dumbass.
If you can't realize that hurting people is intrinsically different from hurting animals, something is seriously wrong with you. If you believe someone/something is innocent it is because you empathize with them, not because they wear a halo or have good karma or a "good soul". Innocence is a human label, and it is quite subjective. It is not a material fact.
That's not true, the Library of Congress does have a mass. It has dimensions as well. Therefore, LoC can properly be used as a unit of measurement for mass, size, or informational content. Just as soon as someone estimates its weight accurately, that is.
I couldn't agree more. I had a political science class last semester where I would get into heated debates on this topic. People are quick to criticize Israel for any lapse in restraint, yet Israel's opponents exercise no restraint at all.
What do you think would happen if these terrorists got a nuke?
Are these guys kidding? This is a mobile phone, there's plenty of financial incentives for viruses. Mainly in the form of 900 numbers or text messages. Check out this Symbian virus: http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6273&l pos=home1
This is why air traffic controlers must take drug tests.

Too bad the wiimote isn't protected from damage when you drink like your brain is.

But that's already how it is...
And honestly, some people are much more comfortable and capable driving compared to others.
You're a noob living with your parents if you think only suckers buy nice hardware. Not that I think this card is worth it...
Odd, I've been using nForce for years with no problems. And I download a LOT.
Exactly my thought when I read the article.
Yeah, except I can call an image file a unique name, so no other parameters are necessary. For instance: trackingpic2341.jpg

Uh... this is the north pole dude, the only resource underneath is water.

It becomes inefficient when you need 100 of them to do the job of one decent server.
I'm all for optimization, but get a real data plan. I pay $40 a month for unlimited. It is a shame there aren't more data options. Give it time.
Lol, like there's a real risk of fire/explosion in that. Maybe an analog phone once caused a fire. I'm not losing any sleep over it.
You luddites need to get a grip.

In addition, when a couple cannot have children of their own, there are plenty of unwanted children available for adoption.
Furthermore, how much do you want to bet that children produced this way will have difficulty conceiving themselves someday?
Not to mention the fact that we already have enough children with breathing problems...
