I only block popups, which are evil in IE (work use only). They lock it up too much of the time./. is an example of well-placed ads. The top and side aren't too intrusive, you can just scroll down or ignore them. If anything catches your eye, it will do so before you scroll, thus fulfilling the ads' purpose.
Then you go ahead and use those same conventions. I don't see very many people writing their C code all on one line. I see the conventions that Python simply makes required. I don't see you complaining about using Make...
Then there's some other therapy methods.
* Troll/.

Works on the airlines, I'm sure we all remember that stuff about "If you use a cell phone, you'll make the plane crash" and "If you use anything electronic during takeoff, the nav stuff won't work and we'll end up flying to Finland, not China."
Typical useless/. post, and I'll probably get modded down, but my fingers are now operating independently of my mind and I can't stop typing.

If something's in beta, people won't want to use it because it just doesn't sound reliable. If it sounds like a stable, final release, people will be more willing to use it, thereby finding the bugs, thereby resulting in bugfixers, which leads to more reliable software.
What's wrong with that? Isn't it, er, CORRECT? Seeing as we speak the ENGLISH language, which originally developed/evolved in ENGLAND, where they say "Zed"? Therefore, English people are better, and the Americans need to learn to speak their language.

Let's see...Vista's too powerful for our computers, so we'll flip to linux. Vista has Sparkle, so we'll flip to linux. Let's see...what's next...Vista steals our soul so we can't flip to linux?
I agree completely, but we should go further. I think there should be more human intervention. For a Lexis-Nexis type database, have the database stored offline (this prevents viruses too) and simply have humans retrieve the needed data. Sure, it's slower, but it's more secure and fewer threats of viruses.

Didn't we already have this in the form of the "deltree" utility? Oh yeah, they took that out.
Then you hand your credit card to the waiter, who goes into another room with it.
Try Thinkfree.com then.
Darn, beat me to it...I guess Canada will have to suffice. [removes Finland from happy-and-content-places list (even though my wife is from there)]
Yeah, Win isn't software, software does something.
Mars? It works for anything, you insensitive clod! Even car repair.
Duct tape.
And... blah blah blah can we make a beowulf cluster out of 'em?
You meant hooligan, not fool, right?
We all need an excuse.
Have you noticed that whenever people say "this is trolling" or "I know I'll be modded down, but..." they never actually get modded down?

On that note, I have seen technology defined as "expensive, cool, and/or more painful ways to kill people."

Wool causes fires! We must ban it.

At least when 64 is standard, my 32 won't run all the spyware anymore.
