  1. Open source is a joke on OpenOffice Illustrates Open Source's Limitations? · · Score: -1, Troll

What you call "open source" programs are just some loosely assembled code lines stolen from companies that make real software. Do you think a bunch of hippies would do something useful, apart smoking their pot. No, they write software that is outmoded since 1983, and call thelm "free".

These hatred comments about an evil leftist (furthermore French) just show how dumb many slashdoters are. For geek-guys technology and free market is so cool. It makes them happy. They look at economic news and a new USB driver and they are enthusiastic and they like it so much. They don't need anything else in their lives.

  6. Two questions on FBI Arrests Eight On Copyright Charges · · Score: 1

The police officer said the "thieves" made money with the illegal trading, but the BBC article said the films were sent to P2P networks. So how do they make money from things that can be downloaded for free? The police also say those 8 people were the primary source of illegal trading. Is that really serious, just 8 people and that's it?

  7. That will fail on SpamSlayer - should we DDOS spammers? · · Score: 1

The spammers can find a response to that kind of behaviour. They will add serveral outside URLs in their HTML mails, hidden to a human visitor (such as blank over blank or a link to a dot) but that a program will consider. And we'll end up DDOS legitimate websites that have nothing to do with the spams. And the DDOS on their site will be less, and the legitimate websites will sue us.

  11. This will kill Bittorrent on Completing BitTorrent Decentralization · · Score: 2, Interesting

Ever wondered why is bittorrent faster than other P2P networks like eDonkey or overnet? This is because there is no built-in decentralized search engine. Users have to download one of the files that are available to them, and consequently more people download the same file at a certain time. The result is that you get the files faster.
