Americans are too caught up in "picking a side" in these big-news issues, that they are totally desensitized to, say, an unarmed man getting shot in the back 40 times just a few blocks away. A person they could very well have interacted with in public, a fellow citizen, is written off as 'a damned shame' when an alleged terrorist will capture their hearts and minds, or inspire them to fight until they see that he's imprisoned or executed.

Of the places I've been in Europe, the British are the ones that are smug to Americans, so smug, soooo smug. Germany, nice people to everyone. France, again, nice. But in my experience, the British have been overcompensating for their 'guilt' or whatever, by simply laying into American politics and blaming every single international dilemma on them, turning a blind eye to their own wrongs. Or even sometimes I would get the speech of how America is ruining the world, and then a simple, "Oh well, it's us too" thrown in for good measure. It's hypocritical, and that very hypocrisy is why America is in the position it is now.

Now is an absurd time to be a European that says they've got things handled better than someone else, and all the cute references to American anthems won't make any difference.

Were it banned, only people that will have weapons will be gang members, and judging by the massive amount of gang members receiving military training and taking it back to the streets; that is pretty messed up.

So there is one way out, to go to every street, every home, and turn it upside-down looking for weapons, to put police on every street, and impose an 8PM curfew. We have to do this fairly often, as gangs would gather weapons again fairly easily. This is symbolic, it is a massive hurdle in the movement to take away all of our freedoms. Another possible route is for even more artists to record themselves with some of those crappy ProTools rigs everyone likes to buy these days, and send it out for mastering directly to mp3, or even worse- try and master it themselves. I hate mp3s, I would never buy one, ever. I'm nowhere near an audiophile, but purchasing an mp3 while knowing how much better the source sounds is absurd. In a world where CD quality isn't meant to be the final product, I can only see less and less time spent on sound engineering, and instead on marketing. The internet is NEVER (yea, i said it) going to be fast enough to have millions of people buying 700MB albums, not for consumers anyway ...after all, they won't be on the right 'tier' for that ;)
