Ok, I'm gonna go pick this game up, because it is the type of game I've wanted for a while, and I actually liked the demo. I know, I know, you guys are gonna tear me apart for liking any game that came out after 1999 and wont run on a 1GHz Thunderbird with Geforce3 you still use because you're "waiting for something that's worth buying."
I've had so very many things on my computer, that contained spyware, that I have overcome. It just doesn't feel like this is going to be any different, why are so many knowledgable people scared? Do you know something I don't? Sure it's screwed up, and that is DEFINITELY the topic of discussion, but, if you want the game, you should still buy it, install it, KILL the spyware, and play it! Can I get an 'ell yeah??
I called up EA and they couldn't help me, obviously, hoped I could get them to say too much. God no, they're like robots. I just wonder if they're going to be running a background process, because I am sure I could paralyze that easily without affecting the game. I hope. In a way, this is just an extra challenge and if you figure out how to disable it, you're going to feel like you've conquered the world! Messed up thing to say, but, AM I RIGHT!?
Anyway, whoever figures out an easy way to disable this before me, TELL THE WORLD!!! IT IS YOUR DUTY!!!
1) Iranians are Persians, good luck getting some dialogue in with a bunch of Persians that want to "wipe you off the map." Who wants to listen to anything Mr. Great Satan(USA) says anyway? Iran doesn't. 2) North Koreans think their dictator is the son of God, you think you can have a dialogue with God? Good luck!
The United States doesn't want to wipe out the Iranians or North Koreans, that is just what their leaders tell them, ya know, propaganda. Get them people your government won't educate properly all riled up and ready to die for their country, after all, it is easier than building a civilized nation. For the Iranians it helps get people rioting in the streets, together, and ignore their living conditions, or better- blame it on the USA, rather than their government. It's not like they know any better, their education system is a joke, pair that up with daily brainwashing, I'm sure you can understand why they'd want to kill all westerners. They're mad as hell, maybe they think if they kill us all they won't have to hear anymore boring propaganda, and try making some real art again- they've forgotten to for about 500 years. One of the biggest things they use against America, along with terrorists, is our bombing of Japan. Can you believe that? Japan doesn't make statements about it, but some desperate and angry Arabs do...very silly people really. Not the type who should have any weapons leaving their land, let alone nukes across the world.
For the North Koreans hating America rounds out their life quite well, they believe they're the great race and greatest nation under the greatest ruler (God), and there's a great evil (US) out there. It's unifying. Oh yeah, and you're required by law to agree with the big little guy.
If the US ever acted on a nation with nuclear weapons, it'd be a global relations disaster, they don't want that. The intelligent people in Iran and N.Korea know this, however they know better than to tell their people a fraction of the truth. Then they'd lose their "edge"
As for being hostile to them, I never thought giving aid was a hostile action. We've not fought them, or threatened to, we've made very calculated actions with both of these countries. You must understand it's an illusion they are creating, in order to get more aid. And if you look at the facts, IT'S WORKING WELL!
The truck picture on the article page got me thinking. A low-revving torquey diesel would be a great generator for a Biodiesel/EEStor hybrid. I would say running a 4cyl Turbo Diesel, like a Mitsubishi Fuso engine, at generator speed for 5 minutes could only use a half-gallon of biodiesel, most likely far less. A typical turbo-diesel engine and this concept, theoretically, could give you nearly a 10,000mile range on about 10 gallons of biofuel, maybe half that if you use the diesel engine for power as well, which I would.
A great concept would be if they could make a biofuel/EEStor hybrid that could withstand the elements, as well as an offroad 4x4 truck. I'd love to be able to drive something like this all through the mud like a redneck, or in this case- a GREEN-neck! Then you could have an all-terrain vehicle that is capable of driving from Canada to Argentina with maybe three/four refuels depending on your tank size and diesel engine use... man that'd be sweet.
Oh yeah, and....uh like dupe, and stuff, uhhhhuuhhuhuhhuhh
I got lucky, sold my AGP 6800GT, xp2600, mobo, ram, etc. on ebay and upgraded to a 939 Opteron 148, 2gb corsair, and an eVGA deal that gave a mobo for free with a 7800gt purchase. With my earnings it really didn't cost much out of pocket (around $200+) and when overclocked it is an FX-55 crusher. I didn't know at the time how stupid it was to buy a 7800, the 7900 came out right after, but again- ebay to the rescue. I then upgraded to a 7900gt with minimal loss (maybe $30) and I was lucky I did because about the next day everyone stopped buying them.
Now all of the stuff I sold really IS worthless, but for a while there was actually a market for it and I cashed in on it. I'm surprised more people didn't get on that bandwagon, it was quite an oppurtunity. Little over a year ago.
If you've got track lighting, LEDs rock! I would suggest you get track lighting if you're using LEDs, its really easy to install.
You can point them in different directions; against light coloured walls, angled ceilings, artwork, etc. and get simply perfect lighting in any rooms. I've tried to use LEDs in lamps, with poor results, once I tried it in the track lighting it changed everything. They also conceal the ugly LED bulbs perfectly.
These bulbs make your house look like a warehouse, that same god awful color temperature. I know from my experience in using these that I am not the only one that finds the light coming from these bulbs very discomforting. I've seen the high-priced ones, they have a wide spectrum and brighten things up nicely, but it looks so much like an office or warehouse. Atleast you don't get that noise that regular flourescent bulbs get, I'll give them that.
Personally, I use 'Reveal' incandescent bulbs, they suck up more energy, produce more heat, but their spectrum looks great and in a far more natural way. You can really tell when you're reading, the pages look way better than with standard incandescent bulbs. If, like me, you find that CFL is a little too "industrial" for you, give the 'Reveal' bulbs a try. Come in every about every wattage and are cheap as all hell.
The very first line in TFA is: "German phone maker Road has announced its answer to Nokia's Communicator."
So why even bring up the 770, only to later add that it looks more like a 9xxx??? I know/. has been all over that 770 thing, but do you think this is the only way you can get us to look at a Linux PDA?
I'm reluctant to buy Rally games because I prefer games where you race other cars.
Get yourself TOCA Race Driver 2006! Its so good!
Other really good games: Burnout, MX vs. ATV On the Edge, WRC: FIA World Rally Championship, Tomb Raider Legend, Daxter, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, World Soccer Winning Eleven 9, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, and Mega Man Powered Up. I haven't played some of the new ones, Miami Vice is supposed to be good. Grand Theft Auto is fun as well, though, I'd wait for the new one to come out.
PSP games would be a lot better if more of them had online play, games like Worms: Open Warfare just scream for online multiplayer and yet lack it. They did the game perfectly, but who wants to play Worms against AI?
Are you going to teach them how to use all of this FLOSS? are you going to be on-call 24/7 to walkthrough the tons of issues they can't handle figuring out for themselves on google? are you going to install their freaking drivers?!...In reality, I believe you're not even going to make that suggestion, because they won't know what the hell you're talking about. They don't care enough about unenforced law to relearn a new OS, and not have a chance of using any applications they're comfortable with. So, if it has no bearing in this situation, why would you lecture people on Slashdot about this? You're preachin to the choir boy.
Unless MS is sending me a check for everyone I 'convert'- I honestly could not care less. Its not my duty. They're grown-ups, they can make their own decisions. On top of that, if someone knows Windows enough to navigate and install programs, I feel lucky. I'm not gonna ruin that by sending them head first into the uncharted territory of open source, and giving them nothing but smug responses. If they are on a pirated Windows version, well, its no fault of mine. Should I feel like making a citizen's arrest and losing a client? Maybe. But, I dont. For all intents and purposes its out of my 'jurisdiction'
*In response to the question,* I say, get Windows on eBay because its about $40 cheaper than retail. One could also suggest waiting for Vista and not buying XP, but I wouldn't.
Big part about not allowing gay marriage is there would be an istant boom of loads and loads of gay weddings for months, in celebration, creating an increase in demand for healthcare and other benefits given to married couples. These programs were not built with the projected hundreds of thousands of 'instant' gay marriages in mind, and its not a good time for us to be experimenting (pun intended!). PLENTY of non-Christians don't support gay marriage.
Now the whole abortion and stem-cell issue? yeah, thats just a load of Christian crap, there is no reason for either of them to be outlawed. The senate hearing about stem-cell research was absurd, a complete mockery of the system, grown men using children's drawings to get their cute little point across about how "life is precious and god and the bible." The speakers were blatantly patronizing anyone watching, using the 'its so simple I don't even have to bother trying' defense...it can just leave you feeling so hopeless for this country.
Its a shame those three issues are lumped together like they are, that surely won't help any single one of them.
In addition, the WMSC also announced that due to a significant increase in cornering speeds in F1 this season, the sport's Technical Working Group will be consulted regarding possible measures to slow the cars down.
Formula One cars were most powerful in the late 1980s, but in an effort to enforce safety they cut about 200 horsepower. The cars are still very fast, but obviously if cornering speeds are on the rise its not as fast as the drivers at the wheel can handle. As a die-hard gearhead, I hate hearing about power cuts in motorsports. But, as a PC user, I know that power dampening is Microsoft's bread and butter, and this is really like killing two birds with one stone for FIA.
So it seems Microsoft may have to design a system that doesn't allow the device's full power utilization; I,for one, believe they have been preparing for a challenge just like this for thirty years!
Everyone is saying DEET doesn't work anymore, is that really true? DEET always worked for me, but only that outdoorsman super concentrated stuff.
When I was kid I'd sometimes spend the night out in my clubhouse and wake up with welts from my legs to my eyelids. Luckily, for today's kids, the mosquitos can't get on MySpace; so they're liable to never come in contact with one.

is getting rich on ebay worth the time, boredom, and effort?
It keeps some of us from working in hell, the worth of that is goddamn immeasurable.
-Time can be widdled down to minutes per week with a well-planned system and some automated action. -Boredom isn't too much of an issue unless you've nothing to do but pace around your desk while you check your stats, but thats not eBay's fault. -Effort is fairly low, like I said; plan it all out, get a UPS account for pick-up and you can work it out to minutes per week.
at least then be consistent and advocate for legalizing killing humans of any age
I wonder if there will ever be a day when both liberals and right-wing-neo-cons cease to base their beliefs and arguments on clever catch phrases made for bumper stickers and T-shirts.
How about this for 'biting'... There are nearly seven thousand children born each year with AIDS in the United States. I dont think I have to tell you how much worse AIDS can get in many other countries. So these children's short and completely pointless lives will consist of what you could call "hell on earth." Great, a few years/months/weeks/days and thousands of dollars to keep a diseased infant crying like hell 20 hours a day up until the inevitable. To me thats just sick. Then they agure "there is adoption." As if there is any reason why we would need to ADD to that system. Adopted children are more likely to be sexually assualted, have problems with mental health, and well, turn out to be fuck-ups. And there's crack babies, thats always fun too.
Lets be real here. bringing an unwanted child into this world results in drug problems, violence, molestation/rape, big-time mental health costs(if anyone bothers), future prisoners, murderers, over-population etc. There is a time and a place for abortion, one can not write it off as "all wrong." Unless, of course, they'd like to bring in religion.
they are still sentient beings
Or could be ticking time-bombs.
Think of it as the pre-emptive action to future terror, based on truth, fact, and common sense. Very much like fighting terrorism abroad, so we don't have to in America. And if that doesn't sound good enough for you, live in one of those new Christian-communes and you'll never again have to deal with the uncertainty of making decisions for yourself in a free world. Its not like a woman has to register her unborn baby, no one knows, so if you dont want it you WILL get rid of it and no one will ever know to charge you with 'murder', why not make it a bit more civilized.
Use every resource you can to keep hospital bed-ridden retards playing with balloons (and of course televising it), crack babies hemmorraging to death before they leave the hospitals, AIDS babies doing the only thing they can do- keep steadily dying, and making sure our prison system grows steadily by bringing unwanted children into their hopelessly doomed lives. Its either what keeps our world working, or part of what will destroy it, or both. Much praise be due to Jesus.
So you're saying, "Security-minded institutions shouldn't use open source" For a second, consider a company having EXCLUSIVE knowledge of the 'sourse' and thus possessing the power to decide what flaws get fixed and when. The argument really works both ways, but if it is open to all who use it, that in itself is a form of security.
For example, consider a building with a building which a bomb has been placed inside. Everyone but security personel is locked out, however the security personel aren't paid to defuse a bomb and have orders to not let a soul inside... so everyone in or near the building dies, all because no one wanted to let inside the very knowledgable demolition expert who happened to be walking by. That is the Pro-Open Source argument. However, you're saying, 'what if that demolitions expert just puts another, more destructive bomb in place and skips town?'... IDK... Probably bad examples, but atleast i didn't "Linux Sn0b j00" http://www.reallylinux.com/docs/snobsoped.shtml
And remember, Open Source doesn't always mean operating system, a lot of the benefit is not paying license fees for 'MS Office' and other applications with far better open source replacements. Realistically, what the F@$K harm is a 'vulnerability' in OpenOffice going to do? How would someone implement an attack on all of your personal reports and documents?
Think about it... the whole world would be one big club, with synch'd house music, and gyrating-pelvic dancing in the streets!!! Haven't you paid attention to the commercials? Its all just silhouettes dancing to music you'd easily find in the hippest of clubs.
iPods are their new medium, since MOST clubs aren't open ALL day, we need another way to know who nearby is open to a sexual encounter. Maybe, if you've contracted a disease you'll get the sad iPod face and directions to a clinic.
Welcome to the Worldwide 21st Century Digital iPod/True/A&F/Bud Light Meet Market! Log In. Log Out. Log In. Log Out. shit! oh no! Log Out! Log Out!!! OOOooOOoohhhh... it is now safe to shut down all of the sex.;D
You can always geta job doing what you love. Just realise that money isn't all that important, and go for it.
To some that may sound vague, and a bit cliche...though it really is sound advice. However, sometimes its not in the cards.
This article makes good points such as, "how much should you love your work?" I think its important to find a balance, sometimes working at what you love can really get to you. Be sensible, if you love doing something that isn't ever going to be in demand, it probably wont love you back. Sometimes people are happier seperating business with pleasure, some feel its best when their work means little to them personally, some live for the love of business or just love to hate it. Whatever it is, its a strange world, and only gets wierder when you're building a career. Make sure you can live with yourself, and be proud of what you do.
Personally, I've found I love 'not working.' For about a year now I've been full-time, and I haven't looked back yet.
Just don't publish programs in magazines. That really was a painful and stupid way to distrubute software.
Yea, it was painful, but it was all we had man! I was about four years old when I first started with the C64, and my mom was a secretary at that time, so she typed the code for a while. It took me a few years to wrap my mind around it, but it was a great way to dissect the language and learn through repitition. But, honestly, I do strongly doubt they'd print complete game/app code in magazines these days!
....No wonder why 'ADD' wasn't a hot issue back then.
"This discovery emphasizes the ever-present and often underestimated threat of 'hacktivism' -- combining malicious code with political causes," said Joe Payne, vice president, VeriSign iDefense Security Intelligence Services
That's how he gets the title "VeriSign iDefense Security Intelligence Services"
Hacktivism, sounds like something some dumb Americans would do... Does anyone know wtf their reason is? errr...Don't need a reason for commemorating the Nazi party, I 'spose!
Is that still political? being the Nazis have no political power anymore... OR is THAT what makes it political?
This is why I hate politics, between Y2kHacks and 9/11Anthrax they just want us to be afraid to open our mailboxes!
Sorry for the 'spoiler,' but what a grand finale at the end of the article.
People don't like it when I say this, but it's like being raped. It's like my underwear was spread all over the streets. It was a severe breach of privacy.
I'd like to be the cop that treats this like they do when they try to tell young girl rape victims its their fault... Well, look at ya! is that all you put on as a browser?! Yea, this is just what I usually put on, Internet Explorer. Well there ya go... You're going out on the internet putting on nothing but a skimpy browser, making all sorts of purchases, without any sort of protection? No wonder you're gettin yourself raped!
If you had the rest of the set, it may make more sense to you. See, on the lower level of the old parking garage playset there's a mock car wash. You would spray cold water on the warm brown Porsche, and it would turn a brilliant yellow! Really good stuff, I always fancied the Micro Machines myself, on the count of the interlocking street platforms and the fast-talking spokesman. Hypercolour t-shirts, I had the one with the guy who's body would disappear and you'd see only his clothes.
This is pretty cool and all, but if I had this paint i'd have to wait until April for it to change colour. So cold.

Welcome to the Worldwide 21st Century Digital iPod/True/A&F/Bud Light Meet Market! ;D
Log In. Log Out. Log In. Log Out. shit! oh no! Log Out! Log Out!!! OOOooOOoohhhh... it is now safe to shut down all of the sex.
To some that may sound vague, and a bit cliche...though it really is sound advice. However, sometimes its not in the cards.
This article makes good points such as, "how much should you love your work?"
I think its important to find a balance, sometimes working at what you love can really get to you.
So cold.
