So instead of having 2 Venuses in the solar system, does this mean we will need to rename the second rock from the Sun?

If so, how about Aphrodite, Ishtar, Ashtoreth, or Inanna? (Those last two have a nice ring to them.)

Would just calling it something different such as deploying the troops or dropping the kids off at the pool be a way around your patent?

Also, you could probably get this patent passed easier if you make it "Taking a crap on the Internet." Then again, there's some prior art for that (spammers, AOL, and Internet Explorer, for example). ;)

I don't know if the auction is capped at the fixed price though. I'd assume so.

No. The auction is not capped at the BIN price. Once a bid has been placed (provided the reserve price, if there is a reserve has been met or exceeded), the Buy It Now option goes away, and the item goes to the regular auction format with no upper limits.

I myself have been pleasantly surprised the few times I have had items end up going for higher than what the Buy It Now was. And in a few instances, I have been amused to discover that the winning bidder in those instances ended up being the one who initially bid and popped the Buy It Now, paying more in the end than what he would have paid had he just made the purchase with BIN.

And in many cases, I'm sure, that really does result in a significant loss of CD sales. People download that one track, listen to it, decide it's crap, and choose not to buy the CD with that crap track on it, figuring all the other tracks are crap as well. Of course, in an ideal situation, they would indeed delete the track from their hard drives and not download any more tracks from that particular CD.

After every single one of their CDC agents vanished without a trace, Senators Lieberman and Clinton took it upon themselves to investigate matters.

They were quite surprised to find themselves standing in the most surreal world imaginable, and clad in strange snug-fitting white uniforms and helmets with shiny blue neon trim.

They were even more surprised when a number of goons in similar outfits (only with shiny red neon trim instead of blue) hustled them into an arena of sorts, where they were made to fling highly energized flying discs at each other in a Frisbee match to the death.

Eventually, Senator Lieberman struck Senator Clinton with a critical hit, and she disintegrated, or as their guards termed it, de-rezzed. Just before he was hauled off to participate in the light cycle game, victorious Lieberman faced his captors, saluted, and shouted "END OF LINE."

Analysts are now puzzling over the meanings those three words may hold.

I fired up Remote Desktop and connected to his computer to install the drivers, since he didn't have admin rights. When I tried to log in, I was informed that there was another user already connected, and if I proceeded, he would be disconnected.

So if only one user can be logged in at a time, how can that be considered a multi-user system? Or am I misinterpreting your use of the phrase "multiple users"?

From my experience, that quality of active OSS support (in terms of forums, email, IRC) is very much related to the number of users. I bet I don't get the same level of support for Slackare 3.4 (hay days..), as I do for the latest release.

But unlike Windows, a Slackware or other Linux upgrade normally doesn't require a hardware upgrade as well. Hell, I remember when I upgraded my Debian system from a 2.4 to a 2.6 kernel. It seemed to me that I actually had a boost in performance, which to me is one major benefit one should expect when doing a software upgrade. This probably isn't much of an issue for the big megacorps, but for small-scale users (home and small businesses), this does become rather significant.

See if you can find this nifty little freeware utility for the 128 called Little Red Reader (a free alternative to Big Blue Reader). That allows you to read and write with MS-DOS formatted disks on a 1571 or 1581. Or alternatively, you can put a modem in your Linux box (if you don't have one already) and connect a modem to your 128 and do a direct modem to modem connection between the two to transfer your files.

It's been ages since I've done this type of transfer, but I seem to recall that the key commands in your term program are:

    ATX3 (on both computers)
    ATDT on one computer
    ATA on the other

Then you can just use X/Y/or ZModem to transfer your files over.

In fact, that was how I initially got Little Red Reader transfered over onto a Commodore disk.
