  1. For the future on VMware Announces UVAC Winners · · Score: 2, Interesting

One point to it that I could imagine is that two years from now, this post will still be here, but TFA might have moved or disappeared entirely.

  2. Mostly improved on Das Keyboard II: A Switch for the Better · · Score: 2, Insightful

While the original Das Keyboard was, for the most part, a rebadged keyboard of high quality (with a logo that wasn't even on straight), this keyboard definitely stands on its own. Personally, I've never had a more pleasant typing experience than I've had with the new version. Not only is less force required to type quickly, but finding the home position is much easier because of the different feel of the 'f' and 'j' keys. This keyboard really feels like its its own product rather than a rebadge.

The only gripe I have is that it doesn't really feel that great for playing computer games because of the way it catches keypresses now. The original felt a lot better in that one case. So, I would definitely recommend using this for typing and something else for gaming.

  3. Next up... TiVo on RIAA Sues XM Satellite Radio · · Score: 1

How dare TiVo allow its users to digitally record and play back not only music, but music videos, without even paying the RIAA a dime! Not to mention the countless television shows, movies, and commercials that did not license their music to be played back whenever the viewer chooses. TiVo must burn!

I'm sure if there were plug-in support for downloading videos via bittorrent and then displaying them in-browser, it would have been considered along with the other sites...

  6. Enigmail is fine... on Security Flaw Discovered in GPG · · Score: 2, Insightful

Clearly you couldn't be bothered to read my statement to the end. I specifically said that some circumstances existed when one *should* ignore laws. Furthermore, law and morality need not correlate perfectly despite what you happen to think about the matter. Oh well, eh Glesga?

  9. Re:So, they're surrendering in the fight against P on France Moving Forward on Legalized P2P · · Score: 1

That is all good and well, but that is not the way one should act. One should generally follow laws even when they are imperfect. One should also work with the government to change any laws that are imperfect, which is what it sounds like the French are actually doing. There are few cases where it is reasonable to outright ignore laws (and I don't think it necessary to list them here).

  12. Re:Irony .... somewhere on Intel Dumps Iitanium's x86 Hardware Compatibility · · Score: 1

Irony? I don't see what is unexpected about this. The PPC chips used in Apple computers weren't all that powerful relative to their new x86 chips. On the other hand, x86 computers are at least comparable in power to the IA64 architecture chips. Emulation of worse chips is easier than emulation of better ones... at least when it comes to real time performance.

  13. Re:Old News on Samsung Announces Flash-Based Disk Drive · · Score: 1

Is a flash drive with a limited number of writes really so much worse than a hard disk with a theoretically unlimited number of writes but a platter that is quite likely to shatter within 5 years? At least you can get the data off the "dead" flash drive if your backups aren't 100% up-to-date.
