I haven't worked there in a really long time so things may have changed, but when I did, there was no way that late fees were a larger profit than renting. Not even close. I was an assistant manager for several months and the end of week summaries clearly showed that late fees were routinely less than 10% of the gross.
My Apple TV crashes regularly, and I have to unplug the stupid thing because it take forever for the device to figure out on its own that it needs to rest.
Its convenient and minimalist, but hardly crashless.
I actually read an interesting article a few years back suggesting this very thing, though for different reasons. The article suggested that every 30,000 years or so (disclaimer: I can't remember the exact schedule the article hypothesized) the magnetic pole would do a complete shift from north to south and during that shift, the Earth would have little to no magnetic field at all. When this happened, the earth would be vulnerable to more radiation from space that would cause a "mass mutation" do to that radiation that would temporarily accelerate evolution.
Take it for what its worth, I thought it was an interesting read.
So... you were speeding and are angry because you couldn't weasel your way out of it? Maybe legislation and rules have become this way because nobody wants to have any accountability. Guess what, YOU are the bigger part of the problem.
Two days in jail seems fitting, for the crime of annoying the hell out of every other moviegoer in the theater who paid $$ to watch a cheesy vampire emo movie.
"Teachers like myself in California are represented by the California Faculty Association (CFA). You do not have to be a member of the union, you can choose not to be. However if you choose not to be then the union still legally charges you 75% of the dues a normal member pays."
I seem to remember Gov Schwarzeneggar submitting a proposition that would require people to have to "opt in" in order for the Union to withdraw from teacher's pay checks. I also remember the storm of anti-Arnold ads that quickly ensued saying the Governator was taking money away from Education. In California, the Governor can't use state funds to campaign for his propositions, so guess what, everyone voted against it. Union's serve a purpose, at certain points they are necessary and vital, but they can quickly become the beast that cannot be fed. Ask anyone in Michigan and wonder why the automakers left. Its the nature of power bases to consolidate and increase their power.

West Point is not a college/university, it is a military academy.
