I couldn't have said it better myself. Whenever i hear about this issue my answer is simple. MEN DONT COMPLAIN WHEN WE ARE OBJECTIFIED!
I dont have biceps the size of tree trunks and a face chizzled from marble but i love playing Final Fantasy games! I dont mind playing a character that is attractive so why do women.
Revealing clothing? When i Play GTA:SA my character runs around wearing less than the hookers on the street.
What about movies? Every big blockbuster in the past 3 decades have cast attractive women in the main roles. Singers, actors, celebrities. Why do games get the heat? We like looking at pretty people. I wouldn't play Tomb Raider if i played as a fat short chick and i wouldn't play FF7 if cloud was short, fat, and had a receding hairline.
I agree to everything u just said and if i wasn't a n00b to/. and i knew how to do anything i would mod that up.
ALthough there is something to be said for playing a game with a smaller population where u can get to know everyone its not for me. I want to be in a living world where 99% of the people around me are strangers going about their business.
I am in a small guild where i have gotten to know everyone and i bump into familiar players now and then which is always fun. The world wouldn't feel as immersive and big if u know everyone.
Plus as u stated if im going to be staring at a game for 100+ hours i want it to look good.
"I think that you're starting to get into apples and oranges here. A lot of the debate between those topics also takes into cosideration the corporate ethics of each company. I prefer AMD because of various technical and ethical issues that I have with Intel, not the least of which is that AMDs are cheaper, run cooler, and 100% compatible in my experience; I prefer NVidia because I've had problems with ATI cards but none with NVidia; XBox vs. PS, I despise Microsoft's attempts to dominate every fu*king market that they see, so I will not support them; MS vs Apple, see previous response, but I also don't like Apple's pricing; and so forth. "
Yes but you put these in the context of your personal preference. Many people cant just leave it at there personal preference and go on to fight for why their preference is better or why the other sucks. I for example like MS but you will never see my go "OMFG MS OWNS YOU ALL F*CK APPLE AND LINUX!!!111one"
That is where these posts seemed to be going. More and more people seemed to be bashing MMORPG's cause they prefer single player games and visa versa. My comments wern't directed at you as much as some of the parent posts.
Live and let live people just because you dont think $15 a month for a MMO is worth it doesn't mean some of us think its worth it for the online experience. And just because you dont like running around in a world populated soley by NPC's doesn't mean that they are inferior games.
I dont see why it has to be either or. Why does it have to be "all games are going online" or "MMO games are gonna crash and burn."
One thing i notice on the internet is that there is only one answer and everything else is 100% wrong. Intel vs. AMD, Nvidia vs ATI, Xbox vs PS, MS vs Apple, Windows vs Linux, etc etc etc.
You have to pick one and everything else sucks. Why cant people just realize that you can have your cake and eat it too. I have an Xbox and a PS2 and i love them both. I play WoW all weekend and i love it but during the week while i have work i like to sit down and play GTA or Halo. My last card was an ATI and now I have an Nvidia and they both work great.
My point is that technology, just like the rest of the world, is not black and white. There are shades of grey and different opinions. Not all games are going to go online and games that are online are gonna stick around and consumers will love them both for their own reasons.
Well im just going from what i know. The only 2 MMORPG's I have ever played are EQ and WOW. Although i would love to be able to let my druid wear mail and swing a sword it would suck a lot of fun out of the game if every player 50+ could run around and do everything.
What fun would it be playing a priest if the warrior in your group could just instant heal himself whenever he gets low. What if a mage could go stealth and stab you in the back.
The fun of WoW is that every class has their own skills and talents that they contribute to a group. So although being able to master everything is great in 1 player RPG's like Elder Scrolls it would really take the fun out of games like WoW.
But again this is just from my point of view. There may be ways to properly implement this but I have never seen it.
He makes some good points but nothing groundbreaking. Common sense would dictate that if u took all the best traits from many similar games and combined them (correctly) it would make a great game.
Also something tells me if it was that simple to make the perfect MMORPG someone would have done it.
Some things such as his comments about classes i just plain disagree with. If people were allowed to train in any skill they wanted then everyone would be running around endgame as masters in all fields. Although if they used some sort of point system to ensure you couldn't max out everything then it may work.
Anyway bottom line this guy just typed up what anyone that plays MMORPG's has thought about now and then. Nothing more.
I'm not saying Ghandi was a pussy, it worked for that situation but it doesn't apply here.
"And lastly, our striking back at them is what gets them the continued support they need ot function."
Yes but when they strike us it gets us the support to fight back. It's a vicious circle.
"Give him no reason to hate us, and Al Queda loses the vast majority of their esential support, and therefor loses ability to conduct operations."
Are you joking? They will hate us as long as we keep our way of life. They have been killing innocent people and blowing things up long before we did anything to them. Even if we no longer are a target they will attack others and that means they must be taken down.
Many people have this attitude that the USA is its own world and that as long as they aren't attacking us its not our problem. We may not have been chosen to police the world but if there is even a chance that we can prevent tragedies like this then it is our responsibility to take action.
We will never get anywhere by being pacifists. They wont leave us alone for not fighting back they will just keep attacking. And we have a choice between losing lives in a battlefield between soldiers or having familes blown up in a tower or train station I chose the first option.
I say we fight them, even if we cant win at least we are trying and at the very least it will give them a military target to focus on instead of innocent people.
im sorry that is the worst analogy i have ever heard. This isn't taking a punch this is people's lives.
What happens if you stand up to a bully? Does he go away forever and rethink his ways? No he goes and picks on someone else.
You guys kep saying "Just rebuild bigger towers in their place" and "just take the punch". Im sorry but as someone who lost a friend in 9/11 that is not the attitude i want my country to take.
That ghandi style attitude may seem noble and wise but they would just realize that we are pussies and they would walk all over our ass.
I agree 100%. Most movies based on games are bad because they stray to far from the games we know and love. (Take Final Fantasy for example).
That "bible" that MS and Bungie have created is what will keep this movie true to the games. Bungie is a smart group and they wont let anyone destroy their franchise if they can help it. I hope that MS stands firm and forces the studio to stick to their "bible".

These people need to wake the hell up.
