You're right, 99% of the Ubuntu 'distros' are just remastered CDS. Basically, it's the equvilant of, installing the Ubuntu cd, and then sudo apt-get install mythtv. A couple of them add value, like Mint. But the majority are utterly pointless, and waste time. Also, why are Kubuntu and Ubuntu counted as seperated distros?

Actually the nvidia drivers do not 'just work' for me (They cause my Xorg to freeze if I kill a compositing wm & etc). But ironcially, I agree. While in theory I'd like most of my stuff to open source, the odd driver and program can be closed. As long as they work properly, and aren't huge security hazards.

  18. Apple Coded on Worm Claimed For Apple OS X · · Score: 0, Troll

It seems to me that the vulnerabilities in OSX will keep increasing as they keep layering stuff over their BSD core. It seems to me their kernel and lower level stuff is widely tested and secure, since you can see most of its source. However, software that they keep pushing out to improve OSX will probably be just as vulnerable as any of Microsoft's stuff.
