You most decidedly can use the name of a government lab that you can rent for your own research. It depends on how you do it (and that may also be a reason why this was "leaked" and not poperly published).
Example: Perfectly legal: "Magic was discovered at NASA's Eagleworks laboratory!" (Done by some junk-scientists that rented the lab at that time...) Illegal: "NASA discovered magic at its Eagleworks laboratory!"
See the difference? This is _not_ NASA doing the (junk-)science. This is somebody that rented the lab.
Simple: With any good scam, there are a lot of morons that want to believe (usually called the "marks"). These then fight (and here mod down) anything that puts their grand holy belief in the magic thing into question.
Hell, you can even scam half a nation, as Trump is currently demonstrating with his empty promises, lies and crude theories of how the world works. (Not that the other candidate is really much better...)
This junk-science would never be published by any respectable outfit. So they "leak" and make it appear like there is some conspiracy to suppress their "results". Same as most scientific frauds do. For example, the medical field is full of "miracle" cures that are "published" in this way as well. Or think of Rossie's "E-Cat", the free energy device (or was it ultra-low cost fusion without shielding or radioactivity?).
This is science-fraud and junk-science, plain and simple. And as in all such cases before, there are enough morons that want to believe against all odds and all scientific understanding and that keep the scam going. These people use "science" as a surrogate for religion, without any understanding of what science is, can do and what its limits are.
Of course this is detectable. If it is loaded into the PLC persistently, then you can find it via a JTAG read and compare. If not, you can detect it during load.
The Swiss use this every 3 months, and it works very well. No indications of fraud, no long-delayed results, no other issues. And of course, these are done on the weekends and there are no long waiting-times or anything.
Quite frankly, the abysmal state of US election technology just shows one thing: They cannot get important things done well. Not a good sign at all.
Indeed. It is just far more obvious in this election, with two candidates that are completely and utterly obviously unsuitable for the job. This is a failed society. A pity it is so large and has the potential to take th rest of the world to hell with it.
This election is a choice between the Plague and Cholera. Hillary will be a bit better short-term, but she will continue and cement the overall downwards-trend. Trump would be without doubt a catastrophe, but this may be a case of rather an end in tears than tears without end. The fact of the matter is that if these two are the best the US political landscape has to offer and who the voters are willing to vote for, then the country is already in a late phase of the decline and essentially doomed.
Indeed. People seem to be unable to recognize satire these days. I though it was really, really well done and really funny in many of its gross exaggerations.
I expect that Ataturk knew this would likely be coming and tried very hard to prevent it. He has failed, unfortunately. A modern Turkey is a thing that is not going to happen anytime soon. They are going straight back to the dark ages and a large part of the population is cheering this move onwards.
Well, if you take into account who owns most of the press and what kind of stories most people actually get to say, I would say this is more a theoretical situation than actual reality.
Turkey is going int full-blown religious fascism at this time. Next step introduction of a death-penalty, and you can bet it will be applied for anybody accuses of "anti-government activity", "insulting the president", and the like. With the current state of the prisons and the number of people in there, that the government does not like, they already effectively have concentration-camps.
The only good thing is that this way, they will not get to be part of the EU anytime soon. They will have to come back out of the darkness first, and that takes a long, long time, and currently they are very intent on going much deeper into evil.
When the problem is big, that fails. For example, no nuclear reactor on this planet is insured. Back when they started, they asked insurers for quotes (in secret, of course), and it turned out that nuclear power was incredible expensive when you calculate the cost honestly and include accident risk and cost. Hence they decided to just put the risk on the public and pocket the gains. Same with climate-change: The carbon-burning industry pockets gains that they only can make because they put the incredible loss that is to come on the public.
My physics is actually sound, but I also do understand a bit about processing signals generated by sensors in the real world. Sure, you could call it "measuring the direction of the static, prevalent acceleration field" and measuring "other acceleration" and if you know how it is being moved, you usually can separate the two to at least some degree. What gravity primarily gives you is the _orientation_ of the phone. This gives you some indication what the person is doing.
True. Of course, people with some insight realize that avoiding dealing with a serious problem universally makes it more serious. One exception: If you wait long enough, you will be dead when it hits the fan. Probably what all the CC deniers are planning on. What stellar examples of human failure.
While there are certainly efforts in that direction (the education systems globally suck much more often than not), I doubt government can actually really do this. I think we just have to many people that are basically cave-men in fancy clothes.
Yes, very much so. The commons is what gets destroyed by a few that do not understand its purpose or care much more about their own short-term profit than about the survival of their society.
Well, to be fair I said "stupid" in the title. But I agree to your statements. I like the medical example. In particular it seems that as a group, human beings cannot really go beyond what evolution gave them. Of course, you always find something like 10% people that are independent thinkers and would actually be able to deal with long-term existential threats (or long-term planning in general), but these people are universally ignored by the rest. It is really tragic, but mostly, humanity seems to be a herd of barely sentient apes that work on emotions and not intellect.
The ones before were religious fuckups. These people here are scientist that do not profit much (if at all) from their predictions. In fact, their predictions create problems for them because of nil-whits like you.

Indeed. A imbalance this extreme is not sustainable.
Gift-giving programs like this always turn into runaway spirals.
There is no choice, except letting society unravel.
And you think a society where "newly jobless will be fucked" will continue to function? How stupid are you?

Seriously, who but an extreme narcissist in urgent need of help would want something like this?

Probably. It is also the government that never understood what joining the EU means and that it is not only about economics.

Well, yes. So your are saying women are destroying the planet because they worry about "how it looks"?
While there are certainly efforts in that direction (the education systems globally suck much more often than not), I doubt government can actually really do this. I think we just have to many people that are basically cave-men in fancy clothes.
