Desperate to become famous, most likely due to having few other opportunities, and the product of a society and education system that failed to teach them to know better.
This is America. People literally risk their lives to cross the desert or the ocean and get here so they can enjoy those "few other opportunities". And guess what? Those who come here to chase the dream are not posting Youtube videos from their iPhones and buying $1,000 guns.
The only way society failed those Youtube idiots is by letting people like you establish a culture of non-accountability for personal decisions.
The word "speed" is a terrible way to measure performance because there's often a big trade-off between how fast a single request can be handled versus how many requests can be handled concurrently.
If we take the price of AWS EC2 instances and the number of concurrent requests, then yes, Node is the new standard for speed because it gives more punch for the same hardware compared to Java.
Ubuntu is the Microsoft of the Linux world. Everyone knows that. Why would anyone be surprised by this kind of invasive "feature" is beyond me.
Also I personally don't get the whole Debian thing, but if someone wants that on their machine, why would they take a retarded relative instead of going for the real thing? That's like choosing Oracle Linux over Red Hat.
...but many pages load as slow as grandfather's driving due to all the JS imports you have to download.
Wait... so we're mixing client-side and server-side now? Are you going to suggest Java Applets or something?
Also this whole JS download is a misconception. Unless you're the kind of idiot who runs his browser in super-secure-no-cache-no-cookies-no-tracking-etc those libraries are a one-time download, and if the developers did their job right and used a shared CDN then you probably already have the copy of jquery and bootstrap they're asking for.
I'd rather just learn how to do both and teach my brain how to switch depending on what I'm developing.
I completely agree.
And sometimes it's not about picking the best language, it's about picking the right one for your environment. - You're surrounded by mathletes? R or Python. - You work with red bull dudes? Node. - Your team jerks off to UML diagrams? Java. - You deal with grumpy get-off-my-lawn sysadmins? Perl. - You sit next to people who wear short sleeve shirts and sandals with white socks? VBA.
Which one is the best? The one that does the job without having to brainwash whoever will be left to maintain it when you ride in the sunset.
Desired state configuration is a concept that doesn't survive contact with reality. It looks good on a whiteboard but that's about it.
When you look at it, you think: oh that's cool, it's decentralized. But it's only on paper. It's susceptible to all kinds of unexpected systemic effects, just like antivirus storms with "edge" protection systems, so to get it working properly, you have to inject rack awareness and all kinds of messy tweaks that take out all the benefits of being decentralized. Totally not worth it.
Puppet just hangs. It's not Windows-specific; it's a feature of this nightmarish system. I've seen cases of million+ queued jobs slowly murdering the masters. Maybe it works if one has 3 servers and 12 lines of config but in a real environment it's just a terrible system.
Take puppet to the backyard and shoot it in the head. Then bring in Ansible. No flaky agent, no constant chat on the network, no mysterious ordering of tasks, no need to find countless plugins written by random people to do the most simple of things. I've seen Ansible work smoothly on 2,500+ servers with fairly complex variations in configs and dynamic inventories.
I've never seen anything good written in ruby and puppet is just par for the course.
As for shell scripting and toy programs that's what Python's for.
Why would someone use Python for shell scripting? If anything, that's one of the areas where it's the worst offender, with its retarded approaches to managing conflicting libraries (ex: virtualenv) and a blatant inability to handle character encoding properly. It doesn't even have a switch statement, which is a pretty common need for shell scripting, and the Pythonic way to handle command-line arguments (another staple of shell scripting) is more verbose than my chatty aunt when she's had too many drinks.
I'm not saying the language is not useful in some cases; it's somewhat intuitive and comes with powerful features, but the fact that it's a prime candidate for using Docker says a lot. Even PHP has a better model for conflicting libraries and less chances of causing carpal tunnel syndrome when you need command-line arguments.
If you're going to make shit up to look cool, at least pick a topic you're knowledgeable about.
I still remember my first mod_perl webapp, which was randomly picking different username/session whenever I would refresh the page - all because I wasn't using namespaces. You can do lots of stupid things in PHP when you don't know what you're doing, but at least you're not going to get variables from another thread or process even if you're using global variables.
I love how they kept the guy with the fat stomach in the background in the beginning. It makes for a nice contrast.
And the music really worked well with the video; I was so deeply touched by the emotions of this masterpiece that after a while it felt as if the picture was slightly moving from side to side.
Anyone who voted up your post which is just a bunch of lies and bogus allegations.
Apparently you're not only one of them "low information voters", you're also promoting ignorance.
Time for you to learn.
- Bill Clinton pardoned two terrorists who were responsible (among other things) of killing two cops.
An unusual combination of New York political and law enforcement leaders have condemned former President Bill Clinton's pardon of Susan L. Rosenberg, a one-time member of the Weather Underground terrorist group who was charged in the notorious 1981 Brink's robbery in Rockland County that left a guard and two police officers dead.
- Bill Clinton also pardoned 16 Puerto Rican terrorists, two of which refused his pardon.
On August 11, 1999, Clinton commuted the sentences of 16 members of FALN, which is a Puerto Rican paramilitary organization that set off 120 bombs in the United States, mostly in New York City and Chicago. There were convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery, bomb-making, and sedition, as well as firearms and explosives violations.[
- The Clintons stole furniture from the White House and returned some of it to avoid further lawsuits.
The Clinton White House furnishings in question, which were donated in 1993, included two sofas, an easy chair and an ottoman, worth $19,900, from Steve Mittman; a kitchen table and four chairs, valued at $3,650, from Lee Ficks; a $2,843 sofa from Brad Noe; $1,170 in lamps from Stuart Schiller; and a $1,000 needlepoint rug from David Martinous, according to the Post. Mittman, Noe and Joy Ficks, the widow of Lee Ficks, told the Post that their donations were gifts to the White House, not the Clintons. The contributions were intended to complement a 1993 White House redecoration project.
and it was apparently not enough because Hilary did it again when she was Secretary of State.
The ex-agent told the FBI that they were aware of Clinton or her aides 'removing lamps and furniture from the State Department which were transported to her residence in Washington, D.C.'
She said when she arrived in Bosnia on March 25, 1996, "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
But news video footage of her arrival at Tuzla shows Clinton, then the first lady, calmly walking from the rear ramp of a U.S. Air Force plane with her daughter, Chelsea, then 16, at her side. Both Clintons held their heads up and did not appear rushed.
The video shows Clinton spending several minutes talking with the group, including an 8-year-old Bosnian girl who presented her with a poem, and later greeting U.S. troops.
His voters are clearly "low information voters". Stupid might be aiming low but they are clearly misinformed on very basic facts in reality...
Dude, Clinton has lied, stolen, defrauded, threatened and bribed. Her and her husband have transformed the Whitehouse in an airbnb for donors, they have stolen furniture, taken money from terrorists then pardoned them, and covered up countless cases of rape and sexual misconduct. And yet, that fucking spawn of Satan got the popular vote at the last election. Who are the real "low information voters"?
This is the kind of "exploitation" we're talking about:
At a mostly male tech gathering in Las Vegas in 2009, Susan Wu, an entrepreneur and investor, said that Mr. Sacca, an investor and former Google executive, touched her face without her consent in a way that made her uncomfortable.
I don't think it's fair to blame russian hackers. They were just hired to do a job. We all know the real puppet master in this political drama: Michelle Obama. She just couldn't stand having a cracker as first female President.
I've said this before, but there are many incompetent males that get hired in computer, but the women who are hired are almost always well above average.
I've seen phony Facebook status, bullshit tweets and shallow press release boilerplate, but when it comes to being an hypocrite, you just take the cake because not only are you a bend-over puppet of political correctness, you also happen to be an immensely sexist pig.
If there's one thing I'm grateful for, it's not being a prisoner of your social shackles.
Tell that to the 22 million health care consumers who are going to be cut to give a tax break to millionaires.
When you talk about millionnaires, do you mean Big Insurance crooks who will no longer be able to buy Gulfstreams and Teslas with the money stolen from small business owners?
It was basically the same as when the mafia would take protection money from small business owners, except this time the cops and the thieves were on the same side of the law.
There's always been women with terrific math/programming skills. That's nothing new. What's new is that the industry is now bloated with incompetents, it's like a gold rush. And it attracts (in part) immature men and gold digging women. The Julian Assanges, the Ellen Paos. They're the bloat.
There's no deep social movement, no revolution with long-term impact, no real disruption. The number of competent people in tech hasn't changed over the last 25 years, there's just more incompetents around who think they belong.
Same shit happened in finance and real estate. Just wait, the pendulum is coming back at some point.
This is payback for buzzfeed who published a story about linux

After Clinton's assault bullet ban expired, so many more Mexican children are dying.
After Clinton's assault bullet ban expired, he was no longer in a position to take bribes to renew it.
Hey we learned a book doesn't stop a .50 caliber round.
You could have learned that a long time ago by watching Death Wish 3.

Bravo!
And PHP. With the release of the PHP 7, it's now faster in some cases than python.
Like a race between a snail and a tortoise...
If one is going to tout the virtues of these languages - do not use speed. Their strengths are elsewhere.
That was a valid point 5 years ago. Things have changed, at least when it comes to PHP.
PHP 7 running on fpm or HHVM is very fast, almost as fast as nodejs. This is not your grandfather's internet.
