I'm pretty sure the pictures of my car, are for lack of a better term, MY FUCKING PICTURES of my car. Taken with my camera, by my hand, and imprinted with a Creative Commons license in the corner, by me. Fuck Ford, and any other company that pulls this.
Will dole come and get me for my fruit basket pics if I forget to remove the label? Assholes!
Come on all - you know that data from a study can be manipulated many ways, and proponents of results (especially those involving the overweight/obese, since the majority of America is) can get a little carried away.
As can opponents, such as I. I view this a another excuse to be a Telle-Tubby wanna be. Personally, I'd rather die young and skinny than fat and old, unable to do jack sh*t in my golden years because I can't move my arse.
I suggest another study on this study, studying the effects of this study's results causing the Great Twinkie Shortage of 2007...
For now - luckily the States are poor and can't divert funds from their pork projects for it. But it will resurface, perhaps with another name, in time. It's like Dr. Evil - keeps coming back to rule us all.
I propose a NO ID Act - everyone, turn in your UID's and become the glorious AC's we all really want to be. That will set an example, like a hunger strike. Except we can eat. And post as AC's.
This argument (public vs. private) is only relevant if one uses these sites (Slashdot included, folks!). As Big Brother becomes more of a reality day by day, people are playing right into "his" hands. I don't get it, myself. While I post on Slashdot, opening up my views for all to see and criticize - I do not, and will not post pics of my ugly ass on FaceSpace or whatever the social site of the day is. I don't need to be that public, but I guess others do. Is it a social trend that everyone wants to be a star? Wow, my plans to rule the world would never come true is everyone knew about them, drawings included.
While a relevant article (to some, I guess), the summary IS a shameless plug - even if not intended.
Editors: For the sake of credibility, please consider before you post. Unless you would consider my story about a bridge in Brooklyn I have for sale, then I might reconsider my position.
Thank you - this is indeed old news. However I love the extra exposure for the Fab@Home project - it's awesome. Also check out RepRap - http://reprap.org/bin/view/Main/WebHome
But thanks again WalMart. I am a VERY anti-WalMart person, but I appreciate their (for the wrong reasons, I'm sure) promotion of Linux based, cheap PC's over recent years. The more it's out there at a significantly lower cost, as long as the product does demonstrate to "Joe User" that he can use Linux for everyday tasks with confidence, the more widespread it will become. I hope.
OpenSuse 10.2 does to, without some tweaking. I'd wager other distros have the same or similar issue. I love *nix, but it it not ready for primetime yet, with bugs like that. I shudder to think of the call from my old man, where I have to explain that he has to rebuild (like he could of in the first place) his PC with pci=nomsi and acpi=forceirqpoll in the boot options so his high dollar toy isn't ruined.
What do people think of this guy, based on his commercials? One of them ends with him whining and begging for you to buy his crap, err product. (Will he sue me for that?!)
I actually have had an interaction with this man. He was (maybe has by now) going to buy a plane and wanted to buy a new (used replacement in our case) interior for it before he had actually purchased his aircraft. He was in a terrible hurry to get it done, but would not believe me when I told him the interior we have is from a different, and incompatible (a Citation 500) model. I quoted him anyway, since it didn't appear (I feel bad for his assistant) that he knows planes as well as *cough* computers.
I would have never imagined enough idiots would buy his drivel to buy that man a jet. Used or not, they ain't cheap - to buy or fly. I need to start something like that, maybe: "How to post on/. - what not to do"
Except that they sell PLC's (Progarmmable Logic Controllers). Based upon my experience with PLC's (Siemens and Allan Bradley namely, and some SBC PLC's), there is absolutely no need for anything like a Cell processor. PLC's are all about simple control of analog or digital I/O's (i.e. take a -4VDC to +4VDC input, = 4 to 20 mA out to device X). Usually built on old Pentium 2 chipsets, and that's enough to control robust systems, like power plants (or drilling rigs, in my experience. Furthermore, I don't see the specs of "International Parallel Machines, Inc." PLC's exhibiting the use of a MMID processor. Nor have I heard of their products being used in any industrial application.
My $.02
For restoring my faith in the Democratic system that we pretend to practice and care about. Now hand me my club and point me to those pesky baby seals!

Hooray for capitalism!!

I can't believe it. Next someone will say that 65% of Slashdot users like p0rn. Insane!
Flamebait??? Who taught you to mod - G.W. Bush? Ubuntu fanboys are reeeeel sensitive, methinks.

"advancing technology" by running .aspx pages, IMHO. Advanced technology should not make my browser (latest stable Firefox) barf.
I, for one, welcome our Robotic Companions (that will someday be our Overlords)!
A good question for the Ask Rob Malda interview!
Wow - I must have been modded by a creationist idiot. I guess I don't shout louder.
Stop it - dinosaur bones are fake, and the world is flat. Resistance is futile, because we shout louder.

1. M$ stops selling it
2. My apps require Vista, or whatever
3. People wise up and let me run Linux instead
4. I can get the hell out of IT

Too bad they are democratic and capitalist now (cough!). We all have to suffer for it.
Is this guy a former Airline exec? I've heard this before - develop a crappy business model, lose money, and whine about it, blame others...
Too bad music isn't a critical infrasctucture like the airline system - he'd get billions of tax dollars to prop his sorry ass up.
What was news is that the cane toads are evolving, growing longer legs (mmmm froglegs) - why wasn't that mentioned in the lead?
Only 3 years and 4 months in Beta? Haven't they learned not to rush a product to market?
Really, who cares? I'm not bashing M$, but rather the music industry. Same 'ol crap being fed, just a different wrapper.
I know, TROLL me. But I couldn't resist.
