It was released on the second Tuesday of the month (April 11). Microsoft has been releasing fixes on this schedule for several months now, maybe longer. They do this so that every patch on the release board gets the full testing cycle it deserves. Microsoft rarely releases patches off-schedule now.
Because it's just a matter of time until the non-certified mail messages are almost discernible from the certified ones, and you eventually end up having the exact same problem you have now.
I know of several dozen members whose explicit purpose is to sing the praises of F/OSS, *insert agenda here* etc..
And I mentioned the OS because I wanted to share that it's not just the anti-MS trolls that hurt the site, as parent might have been implying. A bit overzealous perhaps?
It's another matter if your sole purpose in visiting a site is to throw those views in everyone's face.
Odd, because as a (primarily)Windows user this is exactly what I see coming from at least 50% of the users on this site. "Winbl0wz sux0rzz!1 Linux is the only legitimate OS! All nonfree or commercial software is garbage, F/OSS forever!"
It really depends on the class. I've seen Hunters and Rogues commonly levelled to 60 in 5 days "/played" or less. I've created 3 mages (PvP, PvM, RPPVP) and I've become familiar enough with the levelling spots/spells/quests to get to 60 in about 6.5-7 days "/played". I know of others who beat that easily though.
Also, there are people who level several chars at the same time, only playing one when it has a decent amount of rest XP built up, making best use of your time.
Without releasing the source, they have almost no credibility. If they hadn't released the source, slashdot would be packed with cries of "who would actually run this?!" "wtf, no source? no thanks".
If by "lazy" you mean "they need to test every single change made to their software extensively, and don't have the luxury of being able to throw out third-party hacks with no long-term support requirements", then sure they're being lazy. You'll notice that they're fixing both these issues with their monthly updates on April 11th(I think?) if you look around.
MUDs are also usually less trusting of the clients that connect to them. Sadly, many modern MMOs still rely on information that the client sends them, in good faith. Until that practics stops, clients must always be counted as high-risk, and given as little access as possible to the inner workings of the protocol and interface.
Exactly. It isn't. They should have seen this from the start. If you made the memory, wouldn't you only send the best to be reviewed?
Depends on if my main focus is to sell products with a hint of honesty, or just spread falsities and FUD.

Recording his performance, with a video cam that wasn't his, wasn't a choice that he made?
No kidding, some kids make you an overnight "internet celeb" and all you do is go into hiding and sue your "tormentors"? Get real.
Oops, pro-MS :(
Yay for the preview button.

I know, god damn those lazy ass folks with paralyzing injuries, why can't that lazy idiot carry his own groceries?

Congrats, you missed the point.
You're under the assumption that the PS3 will ever launch...
SHHHH, logic isn't allowed here on slashdot.

I don't agree with your logic, if anything it may lead to an even more fervent grind, to reachieve that same level of gameplay they previously had.
"If I play for 14 hours daily for 9 days, I should be back to 60 and farming MC easily, AND I get the enjoyment of more than 100 hours of gaming."
Keep in mind, most MMOG addicts have no problem grinding from the basics repeatedly.
A review that starts just as biased as it ends, nice.
Although it seems you're joking, their credibility is known as 20+ years as an industry leader.

Because if an official patch breaks your OS, you can get help for it from Microsoft. More people call MS for support than you'd think.

....
AFK, buying a Vex 'bot.
So long as that robot can fetch beer for you, any cost is well worth it.
Something tells me a large majority of mail he gets isn't encrypted though :P
There is no superior, or inferior result in the ACID2 test. You either pass or you don't.
i thought /. was completely non biased and objective
You must be new here, welcome.
