It's been a while since I have posted, but mobile devices really are my favorite thing to play with. I am constantly changing phones, almost at the rate of one per month. Mostly having to import because the carriers here don't know a hill of beans about what "technology" is, and the other half being that most the population can't afford a high end device.
With that said, I do believe that AT&T has horrible, horrible, project management when it came to this iPhone venture they took on.
I fail to see how subscriber fee's aren't paying for these upgrades/updates to their infrastructure. At 9 million iPhone users paying an average of 100$ per month for service in two years you have an average influx of $21.6 billion dollars monthly.
I've heard that supposedly AT&T pays Apple some 100$ per device sold blah blah. Still at 20 billion they shouldn't be putting out releases that a mere 18 billion cost in infrastructure updates.
It's the same with all US technologies. Data, Voice, Video... everyone want's to slim by on whatever the hell the cheapest option is instead of looking forward.
"Hey guys, let's roll out this awesome phone that we can advertise as being the fastest at Data/Web/Voice but restrict everything they can do because of "network capabilities". Sure the iPhone is fast when you are on WiFi but i've traveled to large cities with 3G and the iphone still performs just as poorly as any other device with a 3G capable chipset.
It's tough to explain that network upgrade in your multi-100 million dollar house with the G4 outside.
Then again who gives a crap about customers, they are just fools paying for foolish broken service.
I loved the Slingbox incident, saying that it would wreck traffic on the network. Like the YouTube app pulled less data than Slingbox would have?
Well lest we not forget that children are pointless IMHO, no child is special or is a miricle. "Having a kid is no more of a miricle than you eatin' food and a turd coming out of your ass" - Bill Hicks
I honestly can't believe that videogames are getting as much media attention as they do. Some idiot kids go out and shoot up a highway with a shotgun, or shoot a cop, or run from the police because they saw it in a video game? I think they lost the whole point of GTA to tell you the truth. After I got done playing GTA I wanted to go to the strip club, pick up a hooker, and go have unprotected sex in an alley way.
Thats about what I left the game with. I don't understand how there are all these orginazations out there saying that we need to ban the selling of this game or that game. You need to watch your goddamn children a little closer and what they do you fuck-tard. Don't leave it up to the public to do this for you. You see how well the public makes choices (Dubya). So I rather not leave that to them if you care about your child.
Also if your kid is 16-18 and still can't tell the difference between reality and a video game, well its just better off that he goes and does something stupid to end up dead or in prison.
There is no honest evidence as to why it would be the publics responsibility to watch your fucking kid you poped out of your shit hole body.
There isn't a subject that gets me more furious than this. I don't honestly see how the hell that a videogame would lead to real-life violence. I mean I kill people everyday and don't seem to be affected by videogames. (kidding)
Seriously, if in the event I do ever spawn some children. I will make sure they get to play the Quakes, Dooms and GTA's of thier time, at the same time I will make sure they understand its fictional and to respect your authoraties appointed over you, and the value of human life. These are things that should be taught and understood at a young age and then reinforced by a somewhat decent parent.
The problem with today's society, at least here in this shitty state I live in, is that children themselves are getting pregnant at early ages. (14-17) Honestly now.
I am probably a very grousome and violent person idea wise you might meet. I think of some crazy and violent things but I know that its thought and shouldn't be acted upon. None of that comes from video games. movies mostly do it for me.
I haven't seen really a video game yet thats as violent as any random action movie, at least till GTA came along. Nobody seemed to be going out and killing people when GTA 1 and 2 were out. Seems to be the same principal, same gameplay, same name. Why was it just recently everyone decided to get stupid and go do ignorant things?
Who is this asshole lawyer that wants to sue the entire gaming industry? Did his wife or kids get shot because of a videogame? They missed him obviously.
Stop reading so much into ENTERTAINMENT and just let it be that, entertainment not reality.
I think kids that go out and believe the real world is a videogame that they can do whatever they want should be taken to an open field and shot in the head with a.22 pistol. We aren't loosing the cure for cancer here, maybe a gas attendant or two but even then most of them are self serve.
I don't understand much of this. Slashdot seems to be going the way pspupdates went. Although not as bad and this is what I mean.
PSPupdates was a relatively good site; it had current news and was constantly being updated. Sad thing was even if somebody copy/pasted a story from another site or hell just said they made the damn news it really didn't matter to me. If there was a link I would check it out, if it was without source I would go Google it. 9 times outa 10 it was a real story or was relevant to the site.
The downside of pspupdates, and they have fixed most of it but it does still occur, was that most all the comments on a story were about how the submitter sucked, or the program, or that the news was from another site.
For me this is pointless in every way. When news or a breakthrough comes out, I want to be able to read about it, I could care less where it came from originally, I am sure through the readme or other people talking the source would surface.
Instead all you got after somebody submitted a story about the PSP being hacked was shit-head fudge-sticks talking about how they had the first comment or that they didn't support hacking of the psp. Rather than commenting on a good job to the programmers or the story 134 comments would be posted about how the guy that said he was the first post was gay or that everyone would or wouldn't go download ISO's.
Point I am trying to make is, when did you guys become so ignorant in the way of common sense? Why are you worried if some asshole gets 100 stories submitted and you don't get yours? Isn't that why there is IM and e-mail? If the story truly is good enough to get out it will find a way. Hell, i see stuff posted on Slashdot that's a couple months old, although it's still good news.
It is quite sad that a "story" or article like this was released. I do believe that the mods should check into the links of the submitted story, but it should be up to the submitter to honestly judge if pasting in his own blogg is even complimenting the story or is just trying to be an internet whore and get everyone to check out his/her page.
Just give me the damn news and I will do with it as I please. 15 year olds complaining that their story about shaking soda up in a can would be diffused by tapping the side can just get lost somewhere.
The articles on Slashdot have been most always informative to me. I have submitted a few and had them published. I didn't ever link to a personal site or post "how much I visit Slashdot" it's not the point of the article.
In short, let's just think before you post, post about the article, let it be with whomever submitted it. If it gets bad enough just whack whoever submitted it, create a script sending the user an e-mail saying that the article was submitted give it a CASE ID, Slashdot will now read
Hell, why don't we all just stop buying cd's records all together. Fuck the RIAA, FCC, MPAA and every other damn orginization. Lets throw in the Bush Administration, Congress, and all elected officials. START OVER!
As Bill Hicks said "Hitler had the right idea, he was just an under achiever. "START OVER KILL THEM ALL!".
I am totally down for paying 5$ a month for music that I can burn and listen to in my vehicle or on my mp3 player, psp, whatever it may be.
Why not take those billions and billions that your spending to go investigate a few 100 mp3's that you can fucking google for and downlad, and make some real goddamn music.
I really think good music stoped in the 1970's. Since then NIN and TOOL has been about the only good thing.
Fuck POP, RAP, Country and all that garbage.
Shit people, stop buying cd's and they wont have funds to be chasing after you. Hell run into your local cd store with about 40 friends, grab all the cd's you can and burn them. YOu can't stop the masses.
So what was this site originally intended for anyway? I mean if this guy just took it and placed ads on it, was its original purpose for sex education or something? There are a dozen pr0n sites. Just go register another domain jackass.
I saw a documentary on this on the Discovery channel at least a 100 years ago. I suppose now its just "traveling". They have had this thing running for a while.
I think its all in the view of who you are. I am glad that most the people on this site are a little more educated than alot of PSP sites I have found. I read comments about things like this update and all you read about is, people who have 1.5 wanting to update to 2.0 and people with 1.51 complaining to the 1.5 about no updating.
If you want to update thats your choice. Sony isn't making you update (yet) and you really never actually HAVE to update. Even if updates are manditory by new games you shouldn't complain. The purpose of the system was to play Sony Playstation portable games. NOT HOMEBREW, its just an extra "hack". I think people have taken this to far and have began to thing that playing nintendo or snes9x was the reason PSP came out. How terribly untrue. I also highly doubt that Sega or Sony will produce thier own emulators for the system. We already saw how that went with Dreamcast when Sega produced the "Smash Volume Hits" the emulator that Sega made to run its own games was hacked, ripped and re-distro'ed as some one's personal creation. =\
Although I would personally PAY for a service that would let me play emulated games on the psp incase some one is listening 5-15$ a month for unlimited access to games would be worth it to me to keep up with firmware and have all the oldies.
It comes down to. . . Do you want to keep up with eventually the latest games, or stay with your old pac man portable?
The choice is yours and yours alone, so stop complaining about why people are stupid/not stupid for updating. its a choice just like whether you want to drink pepsi or not.
The JAP 2.0 firmware update does work on US PSP's and is translated into English upon update completion. So far I have not seen much coverage over it. I also am contenplating the update. Right now the Tenchi Browser satisfies me. . . though lacking a back button I have faith something will come about. Till better games get released I will just play Wipeout and SNES all day.
A lot of you have complained and complained and complained. Lets not forget that although this is a swap trick, it is however a step in the right direction. To clarify some things that a lot of you are missing
THIS ONLY WORKS WITH 1.50 PSP'S ONLY!!! NO EXCEPTIONS, no 1.51 no 1.52
Another thing, on your 2nd memory card it will be reported as "corrupted data" for this exploit to work. There is nothing wrong with the file that's on the 2nd Memory Stick. All of this is listed on the developer's site or in the "tutorial" in the archived files.
Please for the love of bob, give these guys props. I haven't seen any of you guys that are whining give anything to the psp scene besides "we want we want we want". It is being worked on and the hardware will be hacked. As everything else goes this will take a while it's not going to happen over night.
I personally would like to thank all those involved in this release. It sets the grounds for future exploits 1.5x. . ect.
Please READ before posting and saying something doesn't work or you think it sucks for whatever reason.
The point is they worked around it so mission successful.

That is all.
X-box 360 just brought us back to where we started. . . with shit.

Thanks for a great system Sony.
I think I saw this on an episiode of Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel. I think they proved it wouldn't work with to many localized rules.
I am going to have to agree with the Anonymous Coward on that one, points for forgetting the subject dickwad.
