    Seriously, did someone strap you in to a chair in front of a pair of Bose speakers and force you to listen? Music as a whole is enriched by any addition to the pool of songs. Are you bent out of shape because the tunes are now 'used?'

    A principle like that would lead to people who are accused of serious crimes being forced to represent themselves, which would mean that cases that would previously have been argued out by a defense lawyer being pushed through the courts. Unfair, and corrupting to the whole legal system.

    US citizens aren't being asked. In fact, US citizens are not at all relevant to this discussion- the CSIRO is an AUSTRALIAN organisation.

    And good for them, the more money they get, the greater likelihood they'll be hiring, and the greater likelihood I'll be able to get a job when I've finished University.

    Sitting next to inquisitive passengers is the worst. I once was next to a 6 or 7 year old version- who proceeded to chatter whilst I was quite airsick and throwing up. Luckily, the flight attendant moved him, before I throttled him.

    Just posting to undo a poor mod on my part, but while I'm here...
     
      I'm an honours student in physical sciences (Chem/Physics etc) and I would say that the gender ratio is equal if not slightly female tipped at my university in terms of women. that said, it's an Australian university, so we don't have affirmative action or anything like that.

    In Australia, esp South Australia, we have programs within secondary (high) schools geared at people who are not intending to go to university- programs like VET (Vocational education and training) and Futures connect. does the US have anything similar?

    he's in new zealand, he doesn't have a right to free speech. he wouldn't have one in australia either. no bill of rights. means that what rights we have is a kind of grey area (though freedom of religion, from memory, is guaranteed in australia) but also means people can't be idiots then hide behind said bill.

    Exactly. I have a Laptop with no numpad. first thing I bought for it, before even a network cable, was a USB keyboard. even a cheap and nasty one has a numpad, which is invaluable for data entry.
