Actually all this would do, if GPS units were required, is let us know where they died, within 1m of resolution.

If they were "just" GPS then yes. If they communicated your speed and position to a central system that would automatically send you a fine (or just debited your credit card) whenever you exceeded the speed limit then this might change behaviour.
I would not want this to happen but someday they will justify it on the grounds of "tracking terrorists" or something like that.
That would mean that road deaths are a greater threat than paedophiles and terrorism...... Oh.

Unless I've missed something this doesn't affect sending outgoing spam.
It may attract spammers in that they can compose personalised messages that you are more likely to read. It may be useful to phishing scams as many people will use real names, but I don't think it will aid bulk sending.
Yes,
If commercial companies want to use 45 year old technology that was GPL'd why not? Just think, Fortran iv would just be out of copyright now. Next year we can look forward to DEC PDP-8 becoming public domain. See timeline of computing.
I am sure that nobody actually wanted to launch them. The fact that the USSR had submarine-launched nukes slightly after that and never gave any indication that it wanted to unilaterally strike the USA proves that.
In fact for a long time the USSR had a "no first nuclear strike" policy when NATO did not.
I think it was the psychological bargaining power of having missiles so close to the USA that they wanted.
The service is 'shared' rather than dedicated, and our VOIP, etc, has been getting worse by the day lately. From what I can tell, dedicated systems go for $30k and up.
You can get a dedicated satellite for 30K..........
After receiving instructions for a movement that would have damaged its wrist, the robotic arm recognized the problem, tried to rectify it and then shut down before it could damage itself,
Why is there not so strong a push to get more male nurses and primary school teachers? Or even publishing?
Visit a psychiatric hospital and you will see plenty of male nurses. Women nurses mainly go for the caring roles, not the struggling to restrain someone.
My younger daughter plays with to trucks, guns etc. She plays with the boys at school more than girls. She even says she hates pink and blue is her favourite colour. She won't wear dresses because they are "sissy". She even says "dad, mum, pretend I'm a boy"!
My older daughter was the typical girl, liking baby dolls, pink clothes and complaining that the boys were rough and rude.
I really don't know why there is a difference, but it is not environment and clearly not just gender based.
Thats a good point. With Google you knew where you stood. They might use your info to to target advertising. They might reveal it to the government if ordered to do so. They would not be likely to sell it to spammers or pass on lists of people who bookmark anti-Islamic sites to an Al-Qaeda operative.
Without google hosting it you need to host your own or find someone you can trust.
Do you do the reverse? I know I don't look at the guy pulling out of the shoebox apartment (old Pentium 75 visible through the windows) in a rusted out Geo Metro and think "Man, I bet he's hung.".
Shame. he probably spent the rest of his wages on penis enlargement.
It now has the ability to hide an entire operating system, so even if you're forced to reveal your pre-boot password to an adversary, you can give them one that boots into a plausible decoy operating system, with your hidden operating system remaining completely undetectable.
Great, I can now maintain my geek-cred by hiding the fact that I sometimes have to boot into Windows to run things like a GPS map updater. No more microsoft on the boot menu.

Has to be a Yorkshire man. The accent didn't undergo the vowel shift, so nursery rhymes that rhyme "brook" with "duck" still rhyme, and you say "freetened" instead of "frightened".

Good I'm safe... It just asked for my credit card number.
Someone must have busted the captcha again, that prevents autonatic sign-up

come back with the 65,536 commandments.
Somebody hasn't read Leviticus or Deuteronomy.
I thought that they were deprecated when the NT was released. ;-)

People would still covet each other's wives and oxen?
... And their manservert and their madeservernt, their laptop, high speed internet connection, their low digit slashdot ID and karma rating......
.... Thou shalt not use someone elses wifi where it diminisheth his download speed....
.... Thou shalt not post to Slashdot on the sabbath
It could go on.........
Unfortunately, even God can only fit 5 commands on a single stone tablet.
Its just as well. Imagine what Sunday School would have been like if Moses hat taken a PDA up mount Sinai and come back with the 65,536 commandments.

Many of the tossers here could learn by example.
... this guy should run for President. Well if Bush did it....
That makes Iraq's old Information Minister look like he was telling the complete truth.
You saying he wasn't. In today's politically correct world that makes you a racist.

She was extremely smart, and she got very good grades in a very hard course.
I bet that's not all that was hard.
Did anyone expect them to say "It's a fair cop gov, you caught us red-handed"?
Aren't they busy eating Big Macs, wiretapping citizens and invading sovereign contries?
Only the well funded ones.
Good point - I hadn't thought of that!

He was warned for hitting bellow the belt in the fourth round, after which I was forced to sacrifice my bishop.
