    so..what you are saying is...

    in Russia...you own the Torrents?

    ah hmm....oki dokie

    Porkys = Movie

    Dr.Strangelove = Film

    I believe those 'flicks were used as the answer when someone asked ages ago....might be wrong, its damn early on a Monday, after all~

  3. One Fast Download! on Firefox 1.0.7 Released · · Score: 2, Insightful

    wow, amazing what speeds I saw on that, over 1mbit which is pretty nice. Sure its not a super large file, but nice to see good speed when the server hasnt been /.'d

    Now I wonder if my extensions will crash or act buggy...ah, well....the price was right ;-)

  4. For the record.. on Voltron Coming To The Big Screen · · Score: 1

    There were two different Voltrons (but for some reason I remember a third one, no info on that tho'):

    One was the 5 lions (edited down from the Japanese series Golion - which mean '5 Lions' in Japanese)

    The one made from 15 different cars, edited down from another series Kikou Dantai Dairugger-XV. It was called 'Vehicle Force Voltron' here in the States.

    I do remember seeing an episode of Golion directly from Japan (got to watch Gundam and Lupin once in a while, I loved Lupin) and Pidge walks out into the night and started to take a pee! I was used to Japanese television content but that was a new one to me, cartoons dont ever have to do that or so I thought.

    I liked Goshogun better ;-)

  5. Re:No gas? on DARPA Grand Challenge A Real Race At Last? · · Score: 1

    Sure it runs on code, thats easy to figure out.

    It is bloatware, so it eventually rots. Then the gas is fermented in tanks and passed to the engine and is burned.

    Imagine what kind of mileage a windoze car would get.

  6. Yay! We are that much closer to Killdozer! on DARPA Grand Challenge A Real Race At Last? · · Score: 2, Interesting

    This is, after all, funded by DARPA so I wonder what creepy guys are drooling over the results in the shadows?

    Myabe some will be rejected from the competition because there is no possible way to mount .50 caliber machine guns on the vehicle.

    Now of course there are practical applications to this too, like an ambulance that can really haul ass and save lives, or a taxi that will take the most direct route. A pizza wagon that can bake and deliver tasty eats. I am sure other /.'ers can think of some positive applications, I'd like to hear some ideas.

    But I'm scared of a technology like this being used against people...maybe I'm paranoid (the voices say I'm not).

  7. Yah I downloaded it on Public Domain from Outer Space · · Score: 1

    It was pretty bad, but it was no Hangar 18, let me tell you.

    It was fun watching Vampira..meee-owww

    Tor was loads of fun since he doesnt close his mouth the entire time. Gotta love it.

    The acting is bad. The sets are awful.

    I liked it.

  8. Re:Im the proof on The 12-minute Windows Heist · · Score: 1

    Hmm...I'll byte...

    As a rule of thumb, I never ever hook my 'puters to the net until I have installed some flavor of firewall and AV product on it and then SP1. Then I run like hell and patch my Windoze.

    But I'm paranoid anyway, or mostly.

    I do like that my dsl modem had a built in NAT table and I ran a router/firewall behind that. Kept me cozy, so that anything that could have infected me, was from my own mistake. I am careful to make sure I scan anything I download, too...just out of habit (and might find a goody once in a long while, but I've yet to be infected...far as I can tell..whoops, dialing Argentina again..j/k).

    As far as Blaster and other worms (they are worms, or are they virus this week?) I feel we will see those survive on the 'net for some time, since thete are SO many unpatched machines out there being run by users that have zero idea how to keep them free of infections.

    Im currently looking for a new free firewall proggy to use, since im low on fundage and want to try something different than what I have.

    As far as AV goes, I've tried out AntiVir and I like it, just wish the free version would let me scan more than one file at a time, its damn annoying...but I'm of course being a cheap old bastard. YMMV.

  10. NZ has had some problems on Rats 'Cripple' NZ Web Access · · Score: 1

    If I recall correctly, Auckland has lost power once or twice and it just messed things up. Doing a little googling reveals this page : http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/misc/mercury .txt Damn what a mess! I would not wish blackouts and or rats on anyone. I feel sorry for anyone dependant on electricity, since the local company really screwed the pooch. That goes double for interweb service, since I know what it feels like to go without...it sucks bigtime. Hm, as for the rat population maybe they need to sell off some of those many millions of sheeps (40+ million, IIRC) and get some cats...a whole mess of cats. Rats are VERY destructive and can gnaw through most materials with ease. Another fun fact is that they can swim for 1/4 mile underwater (and fly outta your toilet and bite you on the ass...yuck!).
