Who would buy that stock after Microsoft lost the LSE platform deal last year after those catastrophic failures. What a recommendation! I still chuckle.

This idea is one of the biggest insults that Microsoft has pulled lately, Mr Charney must think he is a comedian, surely. I know that a clean internet is a 'good thing', but a Microsoft free internet would be a 'better thing'. We probably can't have that for a while so in the interim I suggest a reasonable tax on all Microsoft software to clean up 'my internet' until the problem has gone away. I use zero Microsoft products, but faulty Microsoft products do ruin 'my internet experience' and I truly loathe those responsible. So let us all ram home responsibility where it belongs, let Big Stevie know what we think of Little Scotty's idea.

It is better to provide jobs and industrial growth for Australia rather than growth of foreign propriety companies. If Peru can stick it to Microsoft in such a polite and correct manner we should be able to second the motion. Munich is doing a slow changeover so there are no losers, we can do the same. Imagine.. the Australian Government paying Australian programmers/developers to create and support software to help Australian taxpaying citizens in Australia to improve their Australian lives .. who would ever think of that. I'll bet there are some people in this world reading this who are not mechanics but still know how to check the water, oil, steering, fuel, tyres etc. I learned to do those things on my car, and I learned how to do basic windows maintenance on my first couple of computers .... then I woke up and went Linux and now maintenance is easier but I still have to put up with spam .. probably generated on a defective Billy Box.

FWIW,I have had great success running Win2k and WinXP Virtual Box VMs, latest version 3.1.2 runs great on Ubuntu 9.10 64bit. If you have the speed/power this is your answer. I tried the ATO "E record" application in wine last year (Ubuntu 9.04 64bit AMD 5200) and it ran very fast, but I did not "fiddle with the knobs and dials" so to speak, it may be worth it for you to try that.Ubuntu has Wine 1.31 in their repos now and it runs some of my old windows games.I am sure that Fedora will be at least as advanced. The fact that you would be in the mainstream of software mediocrity at that time is just a bonus to them, they can SELL you something later that will do what THEY want you to do.
