  1. If you are serious about the removal of CO2, I suggest a ban on CO2 injection into beverages (e.g. soda pop). That costs nothing to do and will have an immediate effect.

Not only will it reduce the CO2 footprint, it will improve your health!

How many of you will take me up on that?

The answer is first SHRINK IT. Then bin the horrible excuse of an income tax and replace it with a national sales tax so everyone pays tax.

Look at this list of departments and agencies and tell me you have even a clue at what half of these do for us taxpayers - and how they don't overlap other federal or state agencies. The size of the federal government is obese and needs to be put on a diet. Simply getting rid of departments and agencies that do not have to be at the federal level would be a good starting place (e.g. Dept of Education). Others like pure science, NASA, etc. should remain at the federal level.

    > Did Obama let it happen?

    Let?

Congress - the House and the Senate must work together to pass a BUDGET before the current one expires. That is then signed into law by the current President.

This CR business is a real problem, and the Senate seems uninterested in actually doing to work to create one. Instead of normal, yearly budgets passed in the spring, in plenty of time - we just keep taking onto what we had the previous year in a "crisis" mode not long before 1 October. That honestly IS in a good part Obama's fault. The democrat held Senate has not passed a budget since April 2009! And democrats still had the majority in spring 2010, so no excuses there.

  17. Re:This solves nothing on Producing Gasoline With Metabolically-Engineered Microorganisms · · Score: 0

Actually the problem is that 3rd world nations burn a lot of wood (bad since it both pollutes AND reduces a carbon sink - trees), coal, and animal dung with no pollution control equipment at all. On the other hand, our cars and power plants here put out so much less pollution than we did 50 years ago, that there is not much more we can do to make them cleaner. In fact, today's diesel engines actually clean up the air since what goes out the tailpipes is cleaner than what goes into the engine.

So - want to get rid of bulk CO2 sources? Wipe out 3rd world nations. Problem solved.

Yes - that is harsh, but that is the simple truth.

  18. Re:Defund Obamacare. on Producing Gasoline With Metabolically-Engineered Microorganisms · · Score: 0

If the ACA is so good, why doesn't Congress beta-test it first and let us know how they like it in a year?

Why? Because it is a huge turd, and they know it. It was written by a committee of lawyers and insurance companies, and then patch-worked by Senators in closed door meetings. Then it was voted on, without being completely read or understood (because it was yet another crisis that just had to be solved NOW), and then only after bribing certain wavering Senators with special exemptions for their states.

So it kills jobs, raises prices, reduces coverage, and essentially eliminates marketplace competition. Not to mention the complete elimination of privacy between you and the government. I mean, they are SO good at keeping private data - private, right?

What could possibly go wrong with that?

Why not start with say, Doctors - to write a healthcare bill?

They would do things like - limit malpractice, so they don't have to run every test in the book to avoid being sued for missing something. They would tell you to ditch insurance all-together for non catastrophic events, so they can again practice medicine, instead of medical billing.

No, that would make sense - and not line the pockets of politicians, trial lawyers, and favored insurance companies. We can't have that... can we?
