Next thing you know they are taxing paper (since I can hand-copy, or even xerox, copyrighted material), pens (Devil's instrument), headphones and speakers (cheap bastardic broadcasting equipment) and parrots, and they'll find a way for the Government to pass a law stating that airwaves qualify as comercial goods and so the more you get, the more copyrighted content you are stealing, you nasty little thief.
Oh, and you better start forgetting how to hum. We'll tax that too.
Not quite. End users use KB/s, MB/s, GB/s, just because that's what Firefox or IE or Azureus report. If you say it's a 13,696 MB/s line, your confusing your end user by making him believe he will achieve that d/l speed, whereas you have to take all the overhead into account. So: Bandwidth [bps] and Download/Upload Speed [xB/s].
- Amigo Mío Sólo Tú Encuentras Leña (Only You Can Find Firewood My Friend) - Amigo Mío Si Te Echaras Laca (My Friend, If Only You Used Hairspray)
They made some commercials (I can remember those two), in which they sang nonsensical (though quite funny, I gotta admit) songs including those sentences. After two or three weeks, the songs were quite popular and you could get them for your cell phone by texting some premium number.
R = B log2 ( 1 + SNR ) - channel capacity equation
Change B for 3Khz (approx.) and SNR for 45 dB (min, IIRC), and you'll get your R = 56kbps. If you can't get that much SNR, you'll have a slower bitrate.
If, OTOH, you increase SNR and, especially, bandwidth, you'll get a higher bitrate. Laws of physics aren't broken; modern systems just use higher frequencies and more bandwidth than 300-3400 Hz.
ISP proxies suck. I almost cried in bliss when Telefonica (Spain) took theirs away.
Cached content means speed, but also makes it harder to get up to date pages. If I have to reload a forum (or a/.) 3 times in order to see the latest posts, to hell with those 30ms I gain.
And then there's the "One destination IP to rule 'em all" issue. Rapidshare was never usable with Telefonica's proxy. Same for Slashdot (You can't log in since some sux0r played with their 1337 new proggie behind your same proxy).
That was quick. Godwin's law musta met Moore's along the way...

Dear Mr. Aristotle,
We do not care. If we bill you twice, we'll earn twice as much.
I hope I have cleared your doubts.
Sincerely,

PCC
Yah, same like SGAE in Spain... Although the proportions must be 2%-95% in our case...
Why on Earth wouldn't they call a plumber to fix the internet??
I don't know why, and I am not yet motivated to patent it, since my views on DRM are mostly unprintable....
Whoosh... You were so close to getting it... shame on Wikipedia...
Since you can define legal terms with an English dictionary, I'll use Disney's database to revoke the IAU's decision on Pluto being a dwarf planet!
And my friends think I'm a pornophreak cuz I can think of ten actresses' names without mental effort...
frist post!

Sure! Because doing all that for a Mercedes is peanuts...!
This is just like Spanish Amstel beer promotion:

Disclaimer: The translations above may suck.
Omg, where's my +1 FunnyTroll when needed :D
Maybe the GP's joke flying over your head jammed your humour system...
Welcome to Slashdot's Carnival of the Sick.
In my humble opinion, 640K should be enough for anyone...
Shannon called, he left you a message:

0 kph, I guess... How well does it behave when you're in your car at, say, 50 km/h? Or in a train at 100 km/h?
What's the fastest you can move you make cell handover feasible? That's one of the issues of 3G, isn't it?
Like, say, John Travolta...
Apply it to whomever you may need to. Defendin' Bush is not in my to-do pile (I'm not even from the US).
1. Smash up Human Rights.
2. Get all the International Community busy discussing some nonsensical omfg-lmao statement you make.
3. Profit.

My post was indeed meant as a joke. I promise I'll be more careful next time I find some thought funny :P
You seem to be understimating the imagination of the GP poster...
