  1. The next wave WILL bring evidence on Judge Throws Out Michigan Violent Games Law · · Score: 1

    From the article:
Judge Steeh is pushing for evidence showing the link between playing violent video games and actual acts of violence committed by players.

I am expecting that the next wave of laws that target games will be bundled with such "evidence" from "experts"...

  3. The Last lag reducing NIC ever needed on Investor Money Goes To Magic Lag Reducing Tech · · Score: 1

The one that reduces the brain signals lag between thinking about investing in new high-tech to the time you realise that this is a scam.

This kind of lag ranges from ns to years depending on body wiring. :-)

On a more serious note: It is possible to reduce lag by "generating" enough energy that will bend space time to the point were the server which is 1500KM away will be just next to your PC so you can go wireless.

You only need to find a way to escape the generated black hole so that you dont vanish at the logon screen :-)

  4. Code in JAVA using the native interface on Ultra-Stable Software Design in C++? · · Score: 1

From your post i gather the following: 1. Ultra stable application (managed code seems to me the only solution for minimum effort/time) 2. Portable application 3. Need to use existing C++ libraries I recommend doing all coding in JAVA and calling all the existing C++ libraries that you are given using JAVA's native interface (JNI). Lets suppose that you are given a library that does something ultra-super-ific and you cant do without. public static native int callUltraSuper-ificCppMethod(string param1, long param2); then go and write the wrapper code that thanslates parameters/return types from/to JAVA, c++

  5. who checks the documentation? on Microsoft Set To Be Fined $2.4M a Day · · Score: 1

How will judge (and how, when) if the documentation is sufficient? I can easily see MS giving some ultra-thin documentation just one day before fine-day. Then waiting for an evaluation and getting a new order to re-write a more descriptive documentation. Repeat this forever. I am from Greece and this is the tactic followed by the government when we are fined for not doing something according to EU rules. Extend, extend, extend... (I am not saying this is a good thing. I am just saying that it works in the slow framework of the legal system)

  8. Testing the experiment's tools (IQ test) on Report Claims Men More Intelligent Than Women · · Score: 1

Hi all. 1st post I see that a lot of people turn the subject to the validity of the IQ test or to the notion that IQ tests dont measure anything really. For me the way to test the TEST is to ask: are there any high level (by high level I mean accomplished in their field of expertise) scientists, engineers, doctors , economists, chess players etc that DO NOT rank well with the IQ test? If not (or the % is lower than 2-3%) then the test does measure something. If women were smart they would not go out on dates with us. Case closed! Food for though: do people getting gender change operations need to have brain surgery too?
