Don't miss out on one of the best sci-fi series of the decade just because of one bad episode. Just imagine how B5 would seem to the uninitiated if one would see the crappiest episode of the entire series, "Infection". (That's the one with the lame alien tech that turns some guy into a futuristic cyborgmonster that goes on a killing spree, for those who don't remember it from the name.)
This is of course assuming you have seen Babylon 5; if you haven't, then I can only envy you, you have a amazing galactic war space-opera to look forward to.
This is the second time i've seen a spoiler post of the same (new?) Potter book. Seriously, is it that popular in the Slashdot crowd? Sci-fi series and LOTR I can understand, but Harry Potter? Come on!
P.S: Does that Hagrid person always talk like a hick? How can someone stand reading that slang anymore than a few lines?
I thought the anti-ballistic shield wasn't supposed to be capable of stopping any more than a couple of missiles? If the communists wanted to nuke the U.S., I hardly think they would just launch one missile...
Your analogy is erroneus; the correct form is:
This is almost like saying Bin Laden did a good thing by levelling World Trade center - because he created awareness of errors in the twin towers design.
The really crazy thing is, France and Holland voted democratically against the constitution, which if it had passed, would have increased the parliament's power and simplified the decision making processes, therefore making EU more democratic. So basically EU is and will be an undemocratic, bloated and bureaucratic elephant because the citizens don't want it to become democratic and more streamlined.
And before anyone starts to whine about the constitution being "long" and "bloated", try comparing it to the massive amount of contracts that the constitution was supposed to replace. Does it seem bloated anymore? Didn't think so. People who have no clue what they are voting about should stay the hell away from voting booths.
True, but because GDP is calculated by converting a yuan-based GDP to dollars, it kind of loses it's meaning, because of the yuan being artificially weak in relation to the dollar. Therefore PPP actually is a better way of calculating it, because the actual output in dollars isn't important but the relative production capacity is. Simply put, it costs 10 million (in dollars) to build a nuke in the U.S., but only 2 million (in dollars) to build one in china...
U.S.A: purchasing power parity - $11.75 trillion (2004 est.)
China: purchasing power parity - $7.262 trillion (2004 est.)
Japan: purchasing power parity - $3.745 trillion (2004 est.)
If both the U.S. and China continue to grow at 2004 speeds, China will be the worlds largest
economy in 2015. (7.262*1.091^x=11.75*1.044^x; x=10.93)
China also has the third largest military budget in the world, and is aggressively
modernising it's military. The laws against Taiwanese independence and the governmentally
encouraged anti-japanese sentiments make me wonder if China would be content with Taiwan, or
if Taiwan will become the Austria of our times.

Patenting the process of encoding information in a file that can be viewed remotely by a specialized software over the intertron?
You'll get modded as a troll by **AA agents for mentioning the-bay-that-shall-not-be-spoken-of.org

Use Knoppix. Is it even possible to make bootable floppies for NTFS systems?

When I read the title, I thought they were going to create a P2P system :P
Will it include a hardcoded link to thepiratebay?
He was obviously using it to download porn, and got caught when the victim started getting cock-enlargement pill ads spammed in their e-mail.

Why not? Aren't humans "just" another variant of apes with minor changes?
And your application is ... ?
Is it just me, or are others scared of pressing links with [apple.com] after them?

She caused the firm losses equivalent to the pretax earnings of the five first months of this year? She's lucky that she's only getting fired...
