I wish things were cut and dry like that, but they aren't. I believe the person you are talking about will find that they have more time to surf the internet now that they got their work done a few seconds faster. I've heard similar reasoning from other people. But I'd have to disagree, Microsoft has not brought down the cost of a PC in any way.

You mention PC's under 300 dollars. If it has a windows operating system on it, it accounts for around half the cost of the PC. Yes, computers used to be ALOT more expensive, but I, among others, would attribute this to hardware costs (Microsoft OS hasn't gone down THAT much).

Microsoft software does not subtract from PC cost, it only adds. But Microsoft definately has been a big factor in the adoption of PCs in every home.

I'll agree with you that the networks are just a bunch of bloodsuckers, but let me try to follow your reasoning here...

You record their programs and skip through the commercials. You do this because you feel the networks aren't giving you what you want. And you want to watch their programs.

I'm sorry, but if they aren't giving you what you want, why are you recording their shows? It seems to me they are acknowledging you as a viewer by playing a show you like. What else did you want them to do? What else can they do?

FOX is a big network, and as such they must cater to the tastes of a wide range of people. You should try Adult Swim and Comedy Central, they seem to cater more specifically toward us ;)
