What im wondering is if the capability of downloading will be available at release. Thats the biggest pull for me, all the old school games. And if I have to keep waiting to download/replay Mario 64 or Super Smash Brothers and Goldeneye, im gonna be sorely disappointed.
Launch titles are misleading, the only Release title that "saved" a system is Halo and the XBox, others had great careers even without their launch titles.
With Intels new Core Duo taking down most all of AMD's current Processors, and being far superior in Power Consuption and Tests (its on TomsHardware and Other sites, dont need to link em here), Isnt this a somewhat moot point?
They will most likely lose market share, They gained it because the Last Opteron Offering was better than Intels, but with Intel's new offering being better than AMD's, This market share will more than likely disappear.
Besides, Market Share is a bad thing to go on anyway, it will always ebb and flow with the release of new evolutions in Whatever Market you are in.
The internet wont ever become its own 'state of being.'
There are too many other places that wish to Limit, Censor and all kind of other nasties to the web.
If its up to International Order, then it will go to vote, and the whole thing may be censored if China and other pro-censorship nations have a large pull in ICANN. NOTE: Not that I know if thats how ICANN works, but its a though.
The net will run rampant and will eventually run into a brick wall when Telecoms, Vibercons and Satellite-cons all bicker and fight over who controls what backbone and how much to charge for use of it.
So here I go into that article thinking that PageRank and its algorithms will be talked about, and all the author does, is go on a rant about how he gets more 'targetted traffic' on a low rank site versus a high rank site...
Was there anything useful in that article?
I think there were more Acronyms used in that article than ive ever seen before. Looks like the Author just wanted to sound like he knew what he was talking about by throwing out every acronym known to his little clique of developers. (im guessing SOE's or whatever)
Now, had he gone into detail about getting 'targetted traffic' and not just spouting off that he knows how to, but just seemed like it was a 2 page rant on why Google isnt as good as it claims to be. Also note the Pro-MSN search tidbit thrown in there too.
This is nothing more than a play by the Gov't to suck more money out of avenues they were too ignorant to look at in the fist place. Whats the difference between betting online, versus going to Europe and play there.
Additionaly, Dont you have to claim residency in order to owe taxes (not an accountant, so I have no idea)? If you own an internet casino and claim US Residency, you are just asking for trouble.
Also, why wouldnt the Vegas Casino's start the gambling websites. Its legal there... no difference in me betting at the Sands from Vegas versus Betting at the Sands from Pittsburgh.
Actually, you think that, and then there will just be more people who will pickup the game at a casual pace and wont care or notice the downtime. (Since those people will be sleeping/logged off after 11 or some other time)
And I HIGHLY doubt that Blizzard expected 250,000 subscribers. Thats like saying McDonalds only expects 500 people a day to order some food. Sure they expected 250,000 off the bat, but they KNEW that 1 year down the line the game would be this huge. Its a storied franchise with a large area of interest.
Most Internet companies have two or THREE backup ISP's in order to load handle the servers, DNS and other internal hardware. I think it shows a lack of backbone and hardware foresight on Blizzards part more than anything. If I were blizzard, even if I was directly plugged into an OC Backbone, id still have multiple Fiber lines coming in just in case of severe server/bandwidth load. I just dont see how they have so many internal hardware and DB problems when you are bringin in so much revenue (Not saying running 40 Servers is cheap or anything clsoe to it, but there is plenty of monthly money coming in for hardware and bandwidth budgeting).
Well, if they steal from banks, technically the people with money in the bank are protected up to... 100,000 dollars? Not sure on exact insurance, I think it differs from bank to bank.
I dont think Aflac or Prudential sells Common Sense Insurance for these types of Scams, but Banks are Insured by the FDIC.
Must be my Pittsburgh Roots showin through, I read the RSS feed and was like, Woah, our Local DJ on the Radio is gettin a Lifetime Achievement Award, Kick ass! I guess there is a future in making fun of people live on the radio!
But then I met reality and our favorite local DJ didnt get any such award.:(
No, Novelists write stories. Bloggers, most of the time, just ramble on about nothing. Novelists go through drafts and TRY to write something good. Bloggers find the hot topic of the day andor week, and post a rant or opinion on it. Not much involved. Making money off that is like people paying to read Editorials.
When they make money off of stuff like that, it just kind of irks the guy who actually goes to work and *earns* the living, rather than just spam out pretty much useless drivel, post on 50,000 other blogs, hoping that for the off chance someone will click onto theirs and maybe the google ad on their page.
AI isnt really AI in this sense. The only true test of Intelligence is to think outside the box. Anytime you program something, it has constraints, its impossible to program something to be open ended. No matter how hard you try, the computer/program will always hit a wall.
The closest some AI has become to being even remotely AI (in the true sense) could only be described as 'bugs':) Bugs are the code acting in a manner in which it wasnt ment to, which is actually the closest thing to 'Intelligence' that I believe that we can comprehend.
A true test of Intelligence is doing something that isnt expected and makes us question the intent/rules of the given system.
You make 1,000 Agents, even with the most varied and complex systems of checks, weighted checks, and blind checks, you will still have Empirical Data in order to describe the results.
And since there is no way to classify Intelligence, any results you may see are undoubtably skewed because the test was given restraints, no matter how 'verbose' the system was supposed to be, they will have been limited in one way or another.
Also, its why Humans are so stupid. We are bounded by the physical form.;)
Ya gotta wonder why Apple is trying to expand to the tiny Video market when the PSP's UMD Media is not selling all that well to begin with...
Now, they may be selling Music Video's, but even those are becoming more visual than 'Musical.' If I was apple, id stick with the Photo and just continue their domination of that market instead of trying to expand to another market and end up falling on their face when the PSP is trying, and currently not doing all that well, on a MADE for Gaming/Video handheld.
