While we have investigated the possibility in the past, Microsoft is not developing dual-boot Windows XP support for the One Laptop Per Child's XO laptop.
Aha! Of course, they aren't developing dual-boot for Windows XP, they're developing dual-boot support on the XO for Windows Vista!
This is not the time I'd like to be reading this story...
Yesterday I tried signing up for a domain on 1and1.com and was successful (AKA: gave them all my info/signed up). However, I have received no confirmation emails now, still have no access to the domain, yet their website says that the domain is taken now
Laptops still do not typically provide an adequate solution for outdoor use. In sunlight the displays go near black and are almost impossible to interpret or view.
Is there any way to easily accomplish this?
I believe the OLPC's XO laptops have the ability to switch off the color filter for black and white use, which can greatly enhance readability outdoors. However, I'm not aware of any current color solutions. Is this an issue of implementation or cost?
Advertisers can already zero in to a specific audience regionally, but wouldn't the adoption of HDTV allow them to further segregate their audiences based on wealth? (Very poor won't be able to afford HDTV in early years)
too bad things like "money" and "power" are more important. We can't seem to do anything without money being involved and no one is willing to give up all they have in order to change the way things are done.
No, it's good that money and power are important. The desire to get become rich and powerful is what creates innovation. Instead of looking at space as a place to waste money which we can use elsewhere, we should look at it as a money-making opportunity! An entire economy and social structure could be developed in space, no different from here on earth.
If we want to consider space as a method for maintaining the human race, then we need to redistribute the current concepts in effect on earth to space; this includes everything from agriculture to entertainment. I mean if a suitable environment is developed, we could even start by exporting some industries into space and create commerce/trade between the locations. Planetary outsourcing anyone?:)

Should I be worried? Probably.
Unfortunately, your standard 50 pack of these 700GB discs would set you back $1500...
Then again, that would hold the equivalent of roughly 50,000 cds, which would be 1,000 50-packs, which would cost around $25,000.
You're right! We need P2P insurance!
This sounds like something that could be done with the 'Tenacious D' name on it...

With portable power plants and rechargable military vehicles, the need for supply lines could be greatly reduced.
Now, if we can just suspend fine particles in a gas, while increasing the reflectivity of these lenses, we'll be set...
Finally, a reasonable solution to global warming... ship people off of earth!
