    Do whatever is possible to make it IMpossible for users to install ANYTHING. Install pop-up blockers. That would be a start. And good luck with taking anything away from the end users, Glynn.

    I'm in complete agreement with you regarding the climate change issue.
    I'm a little OCD about English usage is all :) When people write as if they are speaking, their writing usually becomes difficult to understand. And "seriously" is horribly overused these days.

    When you need third party software to use it that adds to the piles off annoying stuff to maintain and configure. Before I knew I needed to use a serial port at work I bought a Thinkpad without one. The truly maddening thing is, the Thinkpad's mobo HAS a RS232 chip on it but there's no fricken serial port on the laptop! I think IBM made a serial port Ultrabay module for my R40 (yeah it's a dinosaur now) but I could never find one at a reasonable price.

    Damn good point. If you don't take the update, you might legally release Toyota from any further responsibility. I have updated firmware on dozens of devices and systems over the years and only bricked one device, a Netgear router. I failed to follow the instruction to reset the device to factory defaults -before- applying the update.

    Yeah. When I did tech support years ago I used to hear that a lot from customers who's hard drives had died. "My whole LIFE was on that computer!" Just how brainwashed can people become? Madison Avenue has turned us into zombies only instead of brains we want to consume electronics.
