  1. Re:Star Destroyer on Lego Millennium Falcon Goes On Sale · · Score: 1

    It's actually over 300,000 Lego's. 33 inches = 2.75 feet, 165 feet / 2.75 = 60, 60 x 5,000 = 300,000 .... more when you consider the volume of the destroyer..... that's a lot of Lego's.

  2. Star Destroyer on Lego Millennium Falcon Goes On Sale · · Score: 2, Funny

I'm waiting for the Lego Imperial Star Destroyer of the same scale as this Falcon.... based on specifications found online the star destroyer would be 165 feet long. How many Lego's is that?

  3. It has its points on Psychoanalyzing Resident Evil and Silent Hill · · Score: 2, Interesting

I have recently played through both RE4 and SH2 so the experience is fresh. I can see how the points the authors made in this peice highlight each games style. Not just in horror gaming but in how a good horror story is told. I never really thought of it the way they analyze it. I'm currently in school for game development and I enjoyed reading the psychoanalytic view of both these series. RE being the game style of save the world and put things in order vs. SH where everything that happens has us question our own avatars sanity (and perhaps our own). Horror game development is something I thought I might work on some day. This really opened my eyes and I'm glad I read it. Perhaps it will inspire me when I make my own horror game some day :)

  4. I'm 38 and going to school for 3d programming... on Starting a Career in Science at Age 38? · · Score: 1

I was beginning to wonder if I was too old myself. As a programmer, do you think I'm too late to get in the field? I currently work in IT as a senior help desk technician. I decided I didn't want to pursue a higher level education in networking but rather do something that was a dream of mine since I graduated high school in '86. I won't be done with school until I am about 44 since I am going part time online after work, reserves, and having visitation with my kids every other weekend. I keep pushing forward but start getting scared that maybe I'm too old.

  5. Re:better to lose a little on the sale on Sony Open to Considering PS3 Price Cuts · · Score: 1

This would make good economical sense but the problem is that Sony is already losing a lot of money on the sale of the hardware at its current price. I read an online article by the Wall Street Journal just before the system released in the US and they gave figures on how much the company had already lost in the great laptop battery recall. They predicted the figures for the release of the PS3 coupled with the battery replacement costs and predicted a loss in the billions for Sony by the end of this year.... and that was at the PS3's release price!

I refuse to read the negative political spin on something that is a hobby for some of us. Just as hunting, sports, bikes, photography, music, etc. are hobbies for others. I have a full time job in I.T., am a member of the US Air Force Reserve, am enrolled half time at an online university in a programming degree, and have 4 great children that I have visitation with every other weekend. Yeah, I guess he's right, I have no life! Maybe politicians should start taking a stand on issues that need to be taken care of in our country. Things like...oh, I don't know... homelessness, hunger, crime, etc. Politicians that take these types of platforms need to be pushed off by Mario! I bet if Washington could find a way to lobby for a federal tax or fee on software they would shut their yaps!

I'm with you on the 3 versions thing.... I have a hard enough time paying 60 bucks for one game let alone 70 or 100 packed with worthless cr@p. I bought one collector edition in my life. That was Battle for Middle Earth 2 because it had additional unit art and animations in game. It will probably be the last CE I buy. I'm picking up Neverwinter Nights 2 today. Who needs a CE that has a cloth map, 2 rings and a glowing aura around your in game character for 10 bucks more? *shrug* To each their own I suppose.

As much as some people think the article is trivial I think it raises our awareness. As with any type of crime we need to be informed about them. It allows us to recognize when we ourselves might be a victim. It also allows us to teach our children what to watch out for as they grow up in this digital age.

  13. It helped White Zombie and Soundgarden in the 90's on Games Are the Next MTV? · · Score: 1

I remember a few games during the 3DO systems lifespan that helped increase the popularity of those two bands. White Zombie did just about every song off their Highway 666 album on the soundtrack of the fighting game "Way of the Warrior" which was a Mortal Kombat clone. I purchased the CD after playing that game constantly with a friend. The tracks were addictive and set the tone of the gameplay. Soundgarden did a track or two and a video on EA's "Road Rash" title on 3DO. I remember seeing the video (I think the song was Kickstand) and eventually I bought their album.

  14. Re:Bleugh on 'SLI On A Stick' Reviewed · · Score: 1

That's true, for those that can afford it. Just don't be surprised when one day comes and developers aren't making the games you enjoy because they can make more by focusing on consoles (just like they did with baseball). With more power, higher definition and more interactivity (Nintendo Wii) consoles are about to solidify its overtake of the PC in terms of more affordable gaming. Do I like it? NO! I've been using, playing and working on PC's since my Tandy 286 with 4MB of memory and no hard drive. As a long time supporter of the PC, it saddens me to think I'm losing interest in my long time hobby. It's just becoming more tempting to sit in in my reclinging sofa in front of my Sony widescreen HDTV with a 720P game rather than hunched over my desk in a semi comfortable chair..... or maybe I'm just getting older ;)

  15. Re:Bleugh on 'SLI On A Stick' Reviewed · · Score: 1

Well Rick, some people still enjoy a good simulation of baseball. The PC used to be the king of baseball sims but since developers are making more money developing for the console they abandoned the PC (thus my reason for mentioning it). My point is that if they can make games like HL2 and Doom3 better on consoles, which they have come pretty damn close (go read the xbox reviews @ gamespot), then why put any more money into a PC?

  16. Re:Bleugh on 'SLI On A Stick' Reviewed · · Score: 1

    /agree

I bought a shiny 6800GT over a year ago for $400 bucks. I'll never spend close to that for a video card again. If I can play the same games on a next gen console I'll pass on any PC upgrades in the future. It's a shame... the PC industry is only hurting self for a long term user base. Hell, you can't even get a decent baseball sim on the PC anymore... it's all going to pot.
