I really don't understand the stubborness of oil companies. Oil is not infinite, they know it. They also know that, as time goes on, people are getting more and more conscious of their footprint on the environment AND/OR the footprint of fossil fuels on their wallets.
Oil companies surely understand that, just because oil may not be used as fuel, it's use as other products such as plastics will endure.
why can't they corner the market on alternative fuels? They're still going to gouge you, whether it's $1.50/litre of gas, or a $1.50/litre of hydrogen or $1.50/kWh or whatever.
Seems to me its in their best interests, and the shareholder's best interests, to do this.
1. Canada and the UK have socialised medicine handled by the government. You don't have to buy insurance, you just pay taxes, fill out some paperwork, and voila, medicare (however, in Canada, different provinces have different schemes for drug insurance) I don't understand this idea of forcing Americans to BUY insurance. Isn't it usual that if the government forces people to BUY something for whatever reason (eg: you have to goto drivers school to get a drivers license), then the thing they are buying will suddenly sky rocket in price?
2. What are HMOs?
3. Why are Americans so convinced that amoral profit seeking corporations have their best interests at heart, and not an elected government whose power is given to them by the people?
At $169, I'd buy one if I knew I could hack around with it. Try to install different OSes, repurpose it entirely as something else, like a coffee table screen that I can use to interface with the media pc, lights, and other things?
Oh I get it, all music should be done by singular musicians with little aspiration beyond their dollar store guitar and $10 usb microphone?
This really is a mind blowingly stupid post that if it weren't for the low uid, I'd have pegged this a troll. But I guess you really believe what you just said, and so you're just as much a part of the copyright problem as the MAFIAA.
I don't get it. You don't enter into any kind of legal agreement when you purchse a CD. You don't sign anything at all.
So how can an entity just arbitrarily send you a bill? does this mean there is precendence in canadian law that would allow me to charge SOCAN a processing fee that will always be twice the cost of what they are charging me?
"It is also under Obama administration that the MAFIAA tried (and fortunately failed) to push their SOPA bill - and if my memory served me right, the Obama administration was supporting the bill, and only after stern objection from millions of Net users that the Obama administration changed their mind
I am afraid to think what will happen i4 years from now if this administration is to win the upcoming election"
Why are you afraid if the Obama administration changed their minds when the public got upset? Isn't that what a politician should do?
I read this entire thread wondering if "Webscale" is really some kind of valid term or not. I'm not convinced that it has any valid meaning whatsoever.
As long as our currency is on, near, or above par with the US dollar, most sensible canadians will order stuff from the US and use USPS to deliver it, since UPS and the like are really just crooked extortionists. How their extortionist techniques are legal, I just don't know.

curious, why would you despise the US government for a treaty that the UK signed?
26 idiots who could cost the economy how much in damage?
I just float around, uncaring of the world below me...

Anyone know?

what an ignorant statement.
Venue owners believe they are doing the musician a favour by letting them play in their venue. Now go explain how to make a living off that mentality?
I pay $70/month for unlimited 10mbit cable from a canadian ISP.
That's after tax, after cable modem rental, and without any contract. *shrug*
But movies are fine right?
G+ feels far more professional than facebook.

What's the point if all they are going to do is cap your usage.
WTF?! There are people who aren't fully lingual in English!? ON THE FUCKING INTERNET NO LESS?! My goodness, what has this world come to.
yeah, the one with all the money
It wasn't because of taxes, it was because of fraud? hmm

1) they've committed some budget to space exploration
2) they expect other countries to do most of the work for them
there is a lot of value in those updates, both commercially, and socially.

Where is all this money going? You would think online advertising would be significanlty cheaper than "legacy media".
Couldn't psystar just sell computers that are hardware compatible with OSX, without putting OS X on it? Then users can install whatever OS they want.
BSD, not GNULinux

because the speed will probably have to be calibrated again after a period of time.
