  2. NDA with proprietary chipsets on Ask Slashdot: How To Make My Own Hardware Multimedia Player? · · Score: 1

I was involved in development of some hardware players (Sigma chipset). And media companies plays there major role. And most important for them IP. This means DRM. Also this means NDA. Realtek, Sigma, all the same in that.
Amazing hardware power, but very locked down before product release by patent restrictions and DRM.
I believe the best you can do and archieve your goals - Atom with some kind of GPU acceleration, but again proprietary drivers, to get acceleration.
FPGA i believe will need too much efforts for one person, to support all media formats

I hope one day i can put in this bags dry nitrogen, instead of air, and get better bags, and thermal labels maybe will discolour after while, but i don't want to look more insane, than i am now. P.S. I keen even checks from supermarket, and thermal ones tend to discolor after 3 years, but it is just for fun.

None exactly of that. You have to find cheap RAID controller, with documented or known format, recognized by Linux softraid. There is some. In this case, even whole computer busted (including controller, it can be EOL, when something will happen, and you cannot find new), or system partially corrupted, you can still recover your data with help of Linux (yes it can read Software RAID created by cheap softraid controllers without those controllers. Check dmraid documentation.
