Well, the NES Classic Series Legend of Zelda is currently $20 used at Gamestop, so I have to imagine that it was not less than that new...

In any case, the Virtual Console won't have any of the brick-and-mortar distribution and sales costs that the NES Classics carts, or even the cards, had. As downloads, they'll be almost pure profit.

I see this mentioned frequently, and it is the reason I mentioned the other compilations out there. You don't see Defender selling by itself for $20+. They sell it on a compilation with several other games. Nintendo doesn't do this. It's not a matter of the physical media costing so much to sell.

Yes, they expect it, but in an "at will" state, you don't have to give it. Generally, you do give notice because you aren't an asshole. The same reason that, generally, your boss doesn't fire you for no reason.

There are obviously some exceptions, including contractual obligations and assholes.

Under the direction of series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature classic, GameCube-style combat -- not Wii-style motion-controlled combat. That means players who prefer to play the game with the traditional control setup can look forward to using the GameCube control-style they're already accustomed to.

"We found that trying to implement too much motion-sensory functionality can get in the way of the game. We're looking at keeping the control simple, as it has been," said Sakurai. "The Wii hardware has sockets for the GameCube controller, too. So I'll just say now that you may not want to throw away your GCN controller yet."

Why? On an emulator you can use the same controller, but you can crank up the resolution and use anti-aliasing and filtering to make the games look better than they did when they were new, or pipe it to the TV if you want it like it was originally.

What do you gain from playing on an old piece of hardware?
