It's not that simple. Different items can be and are taxed at different rates. Did you miss the Twix vs Snickers discussion earlier? And that's just one tiny example.
In at least some states, the burden of paying sales tax falls on the *buyer* if the seller does not *choose* to do so.
I know about this because about a year and a half ago, I bought a home in Florida from a seller in another state. Guess who had to pay the sales tax on 30-something grand?
It didn't surprise me at all because—brace yourselves, now—I've actually spent time around lakes where people go fishing (and amongst whom this amazing discovery counts as "common knowledge").
I find that predictable behaviour is more convenient than smart.
Yep. Few things annoy me more than people trying to second-guess me (and often getting it wrong). It's even more annoying when software tries to do it (and never gets it right).
You're bragging about not using Web mail, but you're using POP3?;-)
Are you also stuck with the imposed Important folder, or is that just an IMAP thing?
I'm thinking about getting rid of GMail in any event--ads showing up in my browser for things allegedly related to whatever I've just mentioned in an email is really starting to creep me out.
And the fact that I get ads for mail-order brides whenever I mention China or Thailand in an email is seriously annoying. (This isn't uncommon, seeing as I've relatives in the former, and friends in the latter.) I *think* my wife realises that I most definitely am NOT looking for a replacement, but it's still annoying as hell.
Would that be the same Jimmy Peanut who is the only person ever to serve as US President who actually has hands-on experience with nuclear reactors? Just checking.

This is what Sweden does, only it's 25%.

I haven't logged in to FB in FIVE YEARS and I am still getting 10-20 mails a day from them.
I think the tone of c6gunner's post makes it pretty evident that he recalls quite well such events as this.
Nearly as much as you'll find in RT on an average day.
"Even the Devil can quote Scripture to suit his purposes."
You really can't do any better than "If you're not rich, you must be a bad person"? Really?

Taikonauts FTW.
I've seen "CCW" used for "counter-clockwise" oodles of times. I guess you just don't read very much?
"Radiation is natural!" True.
"Cobras are natural!" Also true.
Your turn.

Was that really necessary?

Already debunked. You can stop repeating yourself now.
Yeah, who the fuck needs to worry about radiation when becoming an Internet Tough Guy renders you immune to its effects? *facepalm*
A few melting glaciers flooding a few beachfront homes on some far away coast is an "I don't give a shit" issue.
TFTFY.
(SPOILER: About 40% of the world's population lives within 100 km of a coastline. That's about 60 miles.)
I didn't realise the Russian Army had fallen on such hard times.
There's also a reason why about 90% of your comment history consists of cheerleading for nuclear. Care to let us know what that is?
