He was probably thinking of Radeon = 9200 which has open source drivers.
(I have one, and can confirm that these drivers are more stable than nvidia ones. I did play some quake 3 with them some time ago. Performance is lower that you can get with nvidia though, ie. no doom 3).
IMO, CSS still isn't a no-brainer replacement for table-based design. It requires much more care to make it work even if you limit yourself to IE6 and Mozilla Firefox.
Personally I find the depth in which "Application Data" is placed too hard to find.
Microsoft should have used/home/user/Documents is much better than
c:\documents and settings\user\...\Application\
Of course, even unix is not perfect. The.dotfiles are starting to be a big mess. It's hard to decide what is junk there and what is actually worth backing up.
It would be really nice to have
~/.etc/ - configuration (backup optional, no data loss if removed) ~/.var/ - data (this needs to be backed up) ~/.tmp/ - temp files, caches (can remove anytime)
Relative to ASP, yes. But compared to good java frameworks it's nothings special. (And there's competition on the Java side which means things are improving faster).
And don't get me started on "web projects" in VS2003. A piece of crap if I ever saw one.
I am not much dissapointed with D3. Graphics are the best ever and the game is almost exactly like Doom. I'd hope for bigger hordes of enemies, but that problem was known before the release.
I'm more dissapointed with HL2 ending and with Steam requirement for single player (this will make me not buy HL3 or whatever sequel).
>The sample Space Pens were thoroughly tested by NASA. They passed all the tests and have been used ever since on all manned space flights, American and Russian.
I bet it took more for NASA to test and approve the pen than it took to develop it.:)
I always thought that was a nice example of genetic algorithms.
A failed mutation/combination forces extinction.
(reinstall of windows)
There is however a difference.
.NET digital signatures will not help at all if some downloaded C/C++ component has an exploitable bug.
Java and D# is (in theory, excluding VM bugs) "secure".
C++/C is not. Bugs can have disastrous effect.
With Java, one cannot automatically download the "potentialy insecure" code at all.
With

I always get annoyed when games try to perfectly simulate the lens flare.
At least this is the problem DOOM 3 does not have.
PDF is good for printing.
For screen it's total shit because the page doesn't resize appropriately like in a browser.
Screen friendly PDF my ass.
And it doesn't work on my system anyway.
Just as silly as sitting in the corner waiting for the stupid flashlight battery to recharge.
(all this while your gravity gun is fully powered)
For HL2, it would be nice if the powersupply for the grav gun also powered the flashlight.
I mean, come on, the battery shouldn't burn out in a minute.
And they were probably right.
The improved "grav gun" at the later levels made them totally suck (way too easy).

But the ultimate all-in-one solution is a totally integrated OS with the apps invisible.
Apple seems to be closest to it.
Nullable "primitive"(ish) types could be done in c++ with minimal effort.
Realistically, the transporter will need to work by creating a wormhole or something.
It is also more reasonable for such transporter to work without requiring a device on both ends of the transport.
I kinda agree with you.

Is this alive? I've looked at it recently and seems to be a dead standard proposal.
Did Centurions eat a lot of vegetables?
Time to buy myself a DVD/Divx drive.

Simplifications are welcome, but please do not suggest stuff like window in window or the like.
There would be no new asteroid belt.
This is a serious reason not to run Windows.
Too much software assumes it can rewrite and install/upgrade itself.
I want to install software as admin and not as the user.
And not with a camera.
Once you start improving the graphics, where do you stop?
