I think dangers of a random person being able to change code that jolts your heart far outweighs the benefits
Not to mention that if you can change it, then so can your neighbor. I've never seen password encryption on these devices. Security in these devices basically exists through obscurity in that no one outside the company knows much detail about the communication protocol.
I hate powerpoint lectures with a passion. I don't care if you hand out the slides on paper. Nothing reinforces my learning like writing down important points. With powerpoint lectures, the most important points are difficult to impossible to identify. With good old fashion chalk and slate, most professors only take the effort to write down the important shit.
It really all depends on the cause. Some people do great with bariatric surgery, while others continue to eat until their stomach stretches back out to where it was before. Also at that point, the stretch receptors in your stomach can get all messed up, making "feeling full" a lot more complicated. For people in this situation, regular appointments with a good therapist is going to get the best results, as there is likely some underlining psychological cause to the over eating.
Obviously the problem here is that they didn't change their fucking diet. Obese people usually consume more calories than they are capable of burning off in a day, even with exercise. Exercise is not the primary solution to getting slim, and diet is not the primary solution to getting fit and heart healthy. Interestingly, regular walking has been shown to be one of the single most effective exercise programs because it's so damn easy that people are more likely to stick to it.
Online harassment is still harassment in general, which has been, rightfully so in my opinion, illegal for a while. The real question is, why does this need a special law to be prosecuted? How is online harassment any different in it's range of severity from harassment anywhere else?
By established competitor I mean any established corporation that has an invested interest in the market that the new device targets or decides that it wants an invested interest in that market. Just because a device is new doesn't mean it has no competition. Large companies have large amounts of capital to throw into saturating the market with advertising, manufacturing at a price that you can't come anywhere near, and pounding you with their salaried team of lawyers.
Just because they are statistics pros doesn't mean they have studied the game theory of poker, nor does it mean they are trying. Sometimes it also depends on what kind of poker you are playing. Some versions are more predictable than others.
They bitch about GoDaddy's advertising. How about just turning on the TV and bitching about advertising in general? Most advertisements are designed to have some sexual imagery. It is known that this works on both men and women. If anything, I would find GoDaddy's advertising to be sexist against men since it targets primal irrational behavior to trick men into signing up.
Among these "incidents" I find things like "A Rape in Cyberspace is a famous paper by Julian Dibbell about the online rape of a group of LambdaMOO users by another user."
They say he raped them that night. They say he did it with a cunning little doll, fashioned in their image and imbued with the power to make them do whatever he desired. They say that by manipulating the doll he forced them to have sex with him, and with each other, and to do horrible, brutal things to their own bodies.
This is true. In high school and college I used to pirate software left and right. Often times I would install it, decide it was crap within a day or so, and then just leave it installed never using it again.
Now that I'm out of college and working, I don't really ever pirate software. I just use Linux instead.
Actually, while RNs can't prescribe drugs, they are authorized to administer a fair number of drugs without direct order while under the direction of a doctor. As are Paramedics. So as a matter of fact, they do have to study drugs in their education.
But if you have a car at all, you will need insurance whether you drive it or not. So that expense should not be factored in. There are no tolls on the 5 or the 4-0-slow. The only extra expense is parking. If you're not going to downtown, that's not an issue.
While I do not disagree with your suggestion, $150 billion is chump change compared to what this government takes in in taxes. And as I have done virtually no research into this topic, I'm somewhat surprised it's that low.

surely feeling full would help?

You're assuming the main stream media will report false positives.
I hear the circular volume knob on the new iPod will have a pi of 3.
Only in Indiana

What I don't understand is why is this not covered under previous harassment laws?

Because he does not have the capital to survive the beating he will get from established competitors.

Don't forget poker, where good statistical knowledge can give you a big advantage.
Or maybe women are too smart to work for free.
So if the leaders of the movement were homosexual, then the movement would also be homosexual?
Now you understand why Boy Scouts can't have gay leaders
I would hope that much of the FOSS community thinking Stallman is on crack by now.

This is either fiction or stupidity.

I second Flatland. For a high school literature class, it's not intimidating and it's a great opening for discussion of satire in literature.
It's also worth pointing out that the starvation we do have is not for lack of food production.

Had we never invaded Iraq, we would have been virtually done with this by now.

Tesla? Is that you?
