You don't need ANY instruction to update your PS3. It basically updates itself. Just use your PS3 normally and it will check for updates, and ask if you want to update, automatically. Select 'Yes.' Done.

There's enough bad code out there already, the last thing we need is non-technical people adding to it. This would cause the same issues that arise because of people who know how to use Windows but don't know how to use a computer. If you want to program then you need to learn how a computer works first.

Clearly you don't understand. The isolation is hardware based, there is no "setup code." Once it has been isolated there is no way to access it through software. Theoretically the code running in isolation could leak it's valuable information to the outside world, but unfortunately the code has to be signed to run in isolation and is checked by the hardware root key. In other words you can't "unlock" the isolation with software, and you can only run what's already there, nothing new.

Exactly. The only thing this does is remove the HV restrictions on the OtherOS. That will in no way allow any sort of manipulation of the GameOS. The sad thing is that George actually believes he unlocked it saying... "The system isn't locked, you have access to everything now. The root key can't be dumped, it can only be used, and is similar to many other crypto engines on platforms that have widely been considered hacked, such as the iPhone and PSP" Obviously he didn't read up on how the Cell BE works and is completely delusional if he thinks it's anything like the iPhone or PSP. It's really not that hard for even a non-technical person to see that getting past the HV doesn't do any good by reading this http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/power/library/pa-cellsecurity/

First, you need to find out how the coverage is in your area for each service. And by "area" I mean at your home and/or work because you could see the service working fine down the street at the store where you buy the phone and then get home and not have any signal. Second, never sign a contract. It really is worth buying the phone out right and not dealing with the bullshit. Here's my experience so far: T-Mobile: Not very good coverage but data is fast and getting faster, 21mbps by mid 2010 they say. Price is unbeatable. Customer service is very pleasant and helpful. AT&T: Coverage is better then T-Mobile but data is weak at best. Price is high but not the worst. Customer service will make you want to punch babies and kick puppy dogs. Verizon: (Disclaimer! The place I work uses them, but I have my own phone so have not used them) Coverage seems to be very good and data seems to be consistently decent. Price will make you shit bricks, especially for data tethering. Customer service is helpful. One last thing to note is that CDMA phones seems to drain battery faster then GSM phones. Lots of people were I work got Verizon's HTC Touch Pro and the battery would last less then 8 hours. I had the HTC Touch Pro (they call it the FUZE) from AT&T, which is the same phone only with a GSM radio, and my battery would last 2-3 days with very similar usage.

I didn't realize it was locking some offline functionality too. Not saying that it's ok, but technically they didn't brick people's hardware. Bricking means it's doesn't work at all, for anything, but they can still play games as far as I understand. I don't have a 360 so I have no idea what the Live user agreement says, but I'd be interested to see if they covered their ass for locking out offline features too.

No, the content was already in the game, they just made is so that there was no way of playing that part of the game. So the "mod" just shows the content it doesn't add the content. The differnce here is that the explicite content was released with the game, only programmed to skip it. It was simply hacked back into the game and it is not an external addition. All the nude models and programming was already there it just had to be "unlocked."

Ok so has anyone here played God of War? That game has more titties then in any rated R movie I've seen and yet it's only rated M also. So why aren't people mad about that game? Because its content is well known before you even play the game.

The argument can be made that even if a parent was to review GTA before they let there child play, it would do no good. It's not like they explain in the manual how to unlock the sexual content. How would the parent know that it's there?

Of course parents should be involved and control the games that they let their children play but the problem comes in when the questionable content is "smuggled" into the game. The parents should know about and stop their children if they're Googling for "GTA nude hack" but what happens if they get the information from a different source, like a friend at school?

I think in this instance Rockstar is the one to blame because the ESBR and the parents had no *reasonable* way of knowing. Key word being reasonable, I would says it's not reasonable to say parents should be scowering internet forums for hacks that might unlock undesirable content. And also it's not like they give the source code to the ESBR, so it's not like they could have figured out the hack in the time they review the game.
