Yeah, there's no way they could ever be of benefit to society. Lets just let them rot in prison and then when they get out they'll have no marketable skills and go back to committing crimes... That's a much better plan.
Memory management and pointers are some of the core fundemental concepts in programming. Those are things you SHOULD be learning near the beginning. And just because there are confusing things in C doesn't mean you'll run into those when learning the basics.
Exactly, so I would think starting with simple things in assembly (or C to a lesser extent) would teach them these fundimental comcepts better then starting in a language like Visual Basic. Knowing how computers work at the lower levels allows you to be a much better software engineer even when using higher level languages.
I never understood why people think that C, or even assembly, are "too complex" for beginers. Obviously they're complex if you're trying to do something complex like graphics but why would a beginner need to do stuff like that? They should be learning the fundementals, which are often obsucred by higher level languages. Wouldn't it make more sense to start lower (and simpler) and work your way up so that you have a solid understanding of what's happening behind the scenes in higher level languages?
Honestly I think the main reason it failed was because it was NOT like FFXI. It's like they took all the greatest parts of FFXI and replaced them with WoW crap.
Why wouldn't they have that power? I have that power on websites that I own and operate. I never understand why people feel that owners don't have the right to manage their own website as they see fit. If you don't like the way they operate use someone else or, better yet, make your own website and host it on your own hardware.
Because that WAS the intention of the owner: to share their data with random, unknown 3rd parties. That's pretty much the entire purpose of P2P networks.
The main problem with this isn't that it's so rushed. It's that most of the students that will be taught this are computer illiterate. It's always surprising to me how even young tech savvy people don't even know the basics of file systems, or the difference between a hard drive and RAM.
I hear this a lot and I don't understand why everyone assumes this. Has no one ever heard of a thing called "law of conservation of energy?" Yes, it's true that the use of wind and solar don't (directly) create pollution but they remove energy from the surrounding environment. It's not the same threat we're used to but it is still a threat, and one that we don't yet know the long term effects. I'm not saying the wind power is a bad thing, but saying it "pose[s] zero threat to the environment" is false.
I love it when people respond like this. Apparently them being good at something, that you're not, means they have no life? Everyone has their own talents and just because something would be time consuming for you doesn't mean it is for everyone.
Games have the firmware they need on the disc. If you try playing it on a lower firmware version it asks to update just like if there's a new update online. But if they only use it for playing movies and have no internet, you're right, they will have to update some other way when they come out with new Blu-ray profiles.
You don't need a network connection. Try playing a game that requires a new firmware. Same thing: Do you want to update?, yes, done. I suppose if you only use your PS3 for a Blu-ray player, have no internet and get a movie that requires an update to play for some reason then this service might be useful to you.
The thing that's stupid about this is that if your PS3 NEEDS a firmware update it asks you if you want to update, you select "yes" and you're done. If they don't know how to update the system how do they know they need to update it? Are people seeing the system say "Would you like to update?" and just freaking out? "OH GOD WHAT IS THIS SIMPLE YES OR NO QUESTION?! MY BRAIN CAN NOT HANDLE IT! I shall drive all the way to Best Buy and have them solve this riddle for me."
No shits given.
I wasn't speaking in a legal sense. And in that same sense I would call what you're describing "entering."

It would be useful to protect users of sites that have both a public site and a hidden service such as duckduckgo and facebook.

The encryption is all in JS, you can verify the code yourself. Like I'm sure you do with your current encryption method.
The browser plugin downloads the JS once and uses the local copy instead of downloading it every time you access the website.
Works fine in Firefox, which I would consider a regular browser.
According to that link, Microsoft holds a master key, which means NSA/Microsoft can still read your data.
With MEGA giving 50G for free with client side encryption, I don't understand why you would use any other service.
I was able to stream Starbound from Linux to Windows without issue. That was during the beta though, maybe that has changed.

I don't hate Best Buy for preying on stupid people. I hate them for thinking of it first.
